Cubix,

Could you expand on certain elements of your argument. You rightly point out that "racism" is illegal and that police officers should not be permitted to serve if they harbour those views. How would you organise the screening of new recruits to detect this?

In the same way that racism is illegal, so is homophobia. Yet both Islam and Christianity are vehemently opposed to it.

I`m still trying to picture the sort of officer that your vetting system would put on the streets.

As a retired police officer I ended up, after the first ten minutes in uniform, hating blacks, Asians, Catholics, white people, council tenants, chavs, homosexuals, transvestites, travellers, drunks, kiddy fiddlers and senior officers. In fact, pretty much all of society, except for the decent ones. Many of whom occupied one or more of the above categories.

The real question is, did I ever let my prejudices affect my professional standards?

The answer to that is a categoric NO.

What goes on in my head is one of the last bastions of freedom and one that you seem intent on invading.

What are your views on a Black Police Officers Association, whose membership is not open to white officers?

Those of you who think that this forum is being monitored by the police are wrong. It is`nt. It is however, being monitored by MI5 or a similar branch of the Security Services.

Sorry Mudpatten, it is you who are wrong. I can tell you for a fact that the Firearms Examiners of both Lothian and Borders Police and Strathclyde Police regularly trawl at least four shooting forums looking for "undesirable" gun owners on their patches. And they have ways, using IP addresses and access to IP time logs, of ascertaining the real identities of people who post under false names.

I am not saying that this "Big Brother Society" is right - just that it is a fact.

So if my non FAC/SGC holding brother posts something daft on another shooting forum, I may get my SGC revoked. How can they prove that the cert holder was the one posting?

If they were monitoring this forum, which they aren't. But if they were half the members would have lost the tickets over the course of friday and saturday nights.

Alcohol is a wonderful fuel for a virtual punch up.

OOPPPSSS did I say punch up? I meant to say rational debate.

Another point, I doubt they would waste Police time/resources on that one.

MC,

Do the BNP want to close kebab shops ? because if so I wouldnt vote for them.

I was tipsy in charge of a loaded kebab last night. Should I fear a visit from the special forces ?

Cheers

Like you, I don't like my tax being wasted. In fact I don't like paying it at all.

But on the other hand I don't like the idea of muppets running about with guns, so maybe the police do have to keep their eyes and ears open.

I think that Mudpattens is probably right about the MI5 connection. Given the history of violence in the BNP, they would be worried about political extremists having access to guns (although they could probably buy them on the black market anyway). Although, on second thoughts, that is maybe a Special Branch, rather than MI5, problem.
