BASC’S MEMBERSHIP NUMBERS HIT RECORD HIGH

01 January 2009.................................immediate release

The British Association for Shooting and Conservation’s membership numbers reached a record high during December. The number of individual members passed the 130,000 mark.

During the course of 2008, despite the credit crunch, the recruitment of new members has exceeded expectations.

BASC chief executive, John Swift, said: “BASC membership has continued to rise steadily which we believe is testament to the strength of an association that fields a wide range of expert specialist skills to respond constructively and with real force to public events for the benefit of all shooters.â€

The exact figure at 11am on 17 December was 130,023.

Membership costs will go up in March by about 3% - small cost ot keep shooting safe I would say - but I know the non BASC supporters will disagree!

Best wishes to everyone

In these hard times, while everything around you is going bust or companies are trying to reduce costs, employees, etc.

As a BASC supporter I would like to see subs frozen for a little while but, I know it won't happen. Would be a nice generious thought though

Inflation effects all manner of things. Is it right that things like BASC membership should be frozen, and we dont kick up a fuss about the price of potatos? Im not a supporter of either (BASC or spuds) but would like to see balance brought in along the way. Can BASC afford to freeze the membership fee, whislt they, like others, are having to pay for increases such as rates, transport..ect...ect.

Although i dont like the idea of price increases, its a fact that reflects the state of the economic climate. Personaly, i dont think they should be exempt from increases, as this is the way things are now.

What was the last annual increase BASC made to subscriptions? and when was it? did it fall in line with inflation?

Ive had to listen to people all day moaning about the train fare rise. What can i do about it? Things go up before they go down.

I understand that mate, but its the new year, lets leave all that behind. Reading the original post again, it is about the increase in members, not the cost of membership.

Exacty mate and all i said was what a suprise but if you have a different opinion on BASC it seems the bullies come out to play in the hope they will frighten you .YOU HAVE YOUR OPINION I HAVE MINE YOU POST YOURS AND I WILL DO THE SAME You have a problem with that learn to use the ignore button
