gubby_uk
Hi all, I am going to redo my firearms ticket. I turned it in a few years ago and have decided to do it again. I am going to get another.22r/f again for bunny bashing. The place I shoot also has deer and fox that I can shoot. I had .22 before and have been told it will be no problem to do again. Should I put in for a .243 now as well or wait for a few months and do it as a variation? What would you say is the best way about it? Cheers, Gubby
Baldrick
Apply for everything you have good reason to possess, as variations are always a bore. So yes, put in for .22, .17, .243 etc.

steve_b_wales
I don't know if you shot deer before when you had your FAC, but if not, I think you will find that you may have to be supervised by an experienced stalker for some time. You can have a .243 for fox, but I don't think for deer. I applied for deer when I already had a 243 and was told that I had to be supervised if I wanted to start stalking. So does that mean that all land that i legally shoot over (even with full permission from the land owner) i cannot stalk deer unless supervised by an experienced stalker... Don't think so... humperdingle
Speak to your local firearms licensing dept. They'll be the best ones to ask. All forces are different in their approach unfortunately!
Harnser
Gubby . Some constabularys are insisting on new stalkers being accompanied by an experianced stalker for a certain period of time . I went to my local gun club a couple of weeks ago and was approached by another club member who asked me if i would mentor him for deer stalking . He told me that norfolk police were adopting the mentor training sytem for new stalkers . He then told me that i was on the list of official approved mentors for stalking in norfolk . I did not know that i was on any mentors list ,and didnt even know of the mentor system that norfolk is adopting . I have agreed to mentor him when he starts stalking . From my conversation with him it would appear that the constabularys have a list of experianced stalkers and when somebody needs mentoring the police pass on names to the new stalker to contact the stalker and ask if they will mentor him . Makes sence i suppose . Harnser .
