Mungler
Cat, i have deliberately not got involved in all the petty squabbling but tbh, the "self scoring" as you so sarcastically call has no bearing on the end results in our group...WHY? because we pay attention when our friends are shooting and marking is done fairly, if a chip comes off and its witnessed its scored, it no-one but the shooter saw it it is not. The Essex masters scoring left a lot to be desired, i queried several of the calls and was right on all but one which was a misunderstanding on the driven pair. I queried the rabbits stand as i had killed the rabbit, got a no bird on the second clay and the scorer said first bird missed, pair again!! This happenned at least 3 times and I watched every clay shot in my group and corrected scorers several times..i watched Chard get a rub on one stand and kept stum. So in my opinion, having your friends score you is more accurate..and they are less forgiving, which is fine by me!!!!!! Spot on there Bazzer and well put. Too many events are scored by texting teenagers. Ignore Cat, he's still reeling from me beating him on the Black course at the Masters and chickening out of a drubbing at our local haybale. He is just going to console himself with "beating" me at a ground he has shot every week for the last 30 years - yes well done Cat. Next you will be brave enough to face our haybale What's your score prediction Cat? As an exEngland shooter with so many years and miles under your belt you must be looking to beat me by a clear 25 clays surely? Obviously us haybalers have no real skill on the quality targets
Catamong
I hope for your sake you shoot a better score than me as you seem obsessed by it.. It will be a tough shoot, I would be happy to shoot above my average, so anything over a 170 would be a good score. I reckon you should be able to shoot a 150 plus, especially with tp alongside you, as he can shoot pretty steady when he's on form. Let's hope we get some good weather..?? Cat. Mungler
Did 100 birds at Dartford SG with Broken Man and Bagsy. All shooting well and settling down nicely. Nice little jaunt out - was reminded what a crying shame Dartford SG is - the sporting layout ain't bad at all but they have great access, lots of land, no neighbours and instead of making it a premier sporting ground it's been turned over to moreorless just DTL and Skeet (dull as dog poo). A real shame of what could have been for that club. No doubt the DTL and Skeet shooters are pleased with it. Mungler
They were quite respectable. Bagsy has a slow start but finished well. We reckon he needs a red bull before shooting in the future.

Mungler
I was 82, Broken Man 75 and Bagsy 63 or 68 I think. We were only given 20 spare birds on that clay key system. We didn't have enough spare to see a pair at each stand and allow for any no birds, so we shot every stand blind which was quite a good way of keeping us on our toes. A bit tight on the clays though given that we had plenty of no birds.
Chard
Nice day on the clays with my eldest son and his mate and Magman and Magboy We shot the competition at Catton Hall. Lots of barracking and a good laugh, but needless to say, the scores on the doors suffered. Me and Magman won the day with equally poor scores of 70/100 . I always find Catton Hall a difficult course, but that was bad . Saw Mr Potter there, who put in an 86, which I consider to be a ******* good score for Catton. Hats off to you there Mr P. Great shooting from Magboy, who started with some worryingly good stands , but I think his shoulder was black & blue towards the end, which gave us old farts a chance . What a great shot the lad is (he's 11 years old) and good company too, he's got as much gob as his old man My lad used the Mossberg, which raised a few eyebrows from the "waistcoats". He didn't shoot his best either, too much arseing about Good day out, bad scores. (I beat Magman by one really, because the ref gave him an extra kill on one stand, which he missed) Edited May 4, 2009 by Chard

You pay for the clays you want to shoot up front and it counts them down. Annoying if you want to continue or have loads of no birds as a long walk to the club house and back is required. We've been told there's a 5% allowance for no birds (I think)

If you're a member and buy 5 rounds (£100) it works out reasonably cheap. Edited May 4, 2009 by Bigweed

A real shame of what could have been for that club. No doubt the DTL and Skeet shooters are pleased with it. Yes, lots of wasted potential there, it used to be a good Sporting ground a few years back with a massive following of Sporting devotees, but it's all gone pair shaped since the tarp & skeet mob took over, they're just not interested in developing the potential of the ground for Sporting, a crying shame. :( I nipped down to Southdown today, feeling pretty flushed after winning a mega 8 person shoot off at West London on Saturday. , it was a stiff layout, with a strengthening cold wind making things even harder, did the Hants County Sportrap first thing, a good layout, missed the last bird on layout 3 for a straight.. , still scraped in an 85, I think it was won with a 94. Then did the 100 bird reg Sporting, not the most exciting layout I've ever shot at Southdown, a few too many loopers, had 2 really bad stands and finished on an 83, , Fauldsy turned up late and did an 87, my mate did a cracking 92, tied with the Big Fella, but ....guess what.....I think they've lost his card, we had a call from a friend at the ground to say his score wasn't on the board, can't quite work out what's happened there.? Cheryl Hall tagged along with us again, she did a good 89, very steady. Cat.
