FWIW I think you have to be up for it to go near something as dangerous and addictive as that. We aint talking a few drags on a joint or a few pints of beer. Cocaine is a serious drug, you dont try it even once lightly. I reckon the police think the same way. It will be interesting to see the FLOs response. MM
I had a police record and I still got a shotgun licence, Mind you, it was 'Walking on the Moon' Sorry your mate must be very unlucky if he was caught with drugs on the only time he ever had any on him! iF THE BOOT FITS. Regardless of how many time he had carried drugs, he got caught, thats that. He shouldnt have been doing it, and this will come back to him time and time again. Will they grant him a SGC or FAC? I would like to think they will do the right thing. Drugs and guns??? not a great combo.
Highlander
There's only one thing that doesn't go with guns...people who don't think right!
GJUK
well it was only a gram of coke he got taken to the station mug shots finger prints and dna it was last x-mas no excuses for him having it it was his first and last time Lot's of people use class a drugs. I don't, I never have. But lots do. here is only one way to find out and that is to apply and see what happens, if he gets rejected his money will be refunded. Put full details on the application and just see what happens, assuming he was only cautioned he would need to convince his FEO it was a one off. Lets face it it is illegal but not much worse than alcohol and no FEO expects you to be t total. Just depends on the FEO's view on drugs That's got to be the most sensible advice on here. Everyone else I assume are not FAO's and are just telling you what they think will happen. Honestly though, I expect most don't really know which way it will swing, they're just giving you their opinion on the matter. (Theres nothing wrong with the opinions but most won't have had 1st hand experiance approving/checking firearms/SGC applications.) Talk to the poilce. They make the decisions and they will be able to advice you're mate. Jon
jimdfish
I know you're all trying to be friendly, but to be honest I don't want any **** that's stupid enough to play with drugs in the first place, Play with guns too. Just a touch sanctimonious dontcha think. A post that was doing the rounds recently concerned police stopping shoot members and breathalyzing them. Remember that? Alcohjol is a drug and if it were invented tomorrow it would be class A without a shadow. Many sensible people have taken drugs in the past and grown into respectable members of society. Many of them, and I know an awful lot of them now own guns and they aint not no ever shot no-ones. tell your mate to apply and find out. The fac application is after all, only the same price as a gramme of coke tell him. Jim P.S no one on the planet is going to believe that it was the first time he had ever had drugs in his possossion. Not even his mam
Munst
Hang on, are we telling this guy to just apply and see what happens or to ask 'unofficially' before hand? If he just sends in the application cold and is then rejected surely this will be bad for him in the long run - if he goes to join a clay or air rifle club for example he'll have to tick the box 'Have you ever been refused a license'. ? al4x
if he applies then he'll get a visit from a FEO who will have a chat and detail issues and he may be able to convince him that it was a one off. I know at least 3 serving policemen who use cocaine regularly seems like an awful lot of professionals use it round here. Whether that will last with the credit crunch etc but its a long way from being highly addictive and in reality not much worse for you than alcohol as stated. Also he did only get a caution for it so you never know, one things for sure an interweb forum is the last place to get the right information
