I've got a 28" al391 urika 1, excellent gun, best I have ever owned. If you want a semi for clays or rough shooting/decoying etc I'd defiantly look at a Beretta semi.

Neither of those guns will do particularly well at 30ft/lbs with regards to shot count most of all. The S410 carbine will probably do about 10 usable shots at 30ft/lbs In my opinion you'd be better off getting a 'purpose built' FAC gun. I'd think about a second hand Air Ranger or a Rapid personally, both great guns at FAC power.

Common misconception but in fact the TD5 has nothing to do with BMW at all. It was designed from scratch by land rover internally. The way I see it; TD5 + smoother to drive on road, keep up with motorway traffic better than TDi + new models, generally higher spec with ACE suspension etc and more comforts in the cab + easier to drive off road with all the electronic help from the traction control etc - pretty bad MPG compared to TDi - you'll get stuffed by the new tax rules unless you get an older one - it still rusts even though its newer than the S1 - anything goes wrong with the engine its gotta go down the garage TDi + bombproof engine + whole car is easy to work on + better MPG than TD5 + generally much cheaper to run than the TD5 inc. fuel as well as servicing etc + Cheap to buy - Good ones now are rare - Rust - Not as good on long road trips as the TD5 - Rust

I would say HW97, I have shot both and even though the tx200 was a nice rifle, I have to say that I think the 97k is superior, more equivalent to the Prosport than the 200.

At my local RFD the mosseys are £450 last time I looked and they come with a second standard barrel as well...not too bad really when you consider how reliable and durable they are.

Yes gravity is constant as you say, but its effect isn't due to the slowing of the projectile. Look at the trajectory graph, the drop isn't fixed its exponential.

If the speed of the projectile is constant...which it isn't, its slowing down all the time which means that everything (wind, gravity etc) that is effecting the round effects it exponentially with regards to speed of the projectile. Oh and as for the Coriolis effect you don't need to worry about that unless your at the controls of a deck gun drawing a bead on something 12 miles away

Landy's rock They are the cheapest to mod, maintain and look after generally. You can avoid major problems by simply sparing 30minutes a month and having a quick run round the car, check play on all suspension and steering joints, wheels etc. Drive it like it is - a 2 tonne moving road block, not a DB9 :blink: Having said that I'm also a Jeep fan. We had a 2.5 petrol Sport model for 11 years nearly, put 240k+ miles on it and the things we replaced were- Brake pads + disks battery new air filter every 6 months It only ever had the oil changed twice in 11 years! Granted when we got rid of it...well...yeah the rear diff was shagged...didn't like turning left. What amazed me was that when my old man got his disco to replace it we were lazy and just left the jeep on the drive for the better part of a year just using it 2 or 3 times for a shooting wagon, we eventually got rid of it one day, it hadn't been started for 9 months, 4 flat tyres...didn't even need a jump, fired on the first turn Oh but it only ever got 17mpg which is complete **** seeing as our discos get 32+

Good god I bet .455 is fun to shoot - the army god rid of it as the damage it did was classed as 'inhumane'! They were sub sonic as well so fighting in the desert with the sun up it wasn't odd to see the round come at you! Anyway, I think I've missed the point here. You saying that the guys FEO has granted him an illegal gun? Or are you just surprised that they're still available? Laws are very strict on pistols, I think only the FAC holder can handle or shoot it, at least that's what I've been told.

The maximum range of your kit will be limited by you as others have said. I'd say specifically; Its at whatever range you can consistently put pellets inside of a 20p piece in the stances that you shoot from whilst hunting and the conditions weather wise. I.e you might be able to do this at 50yards every time whilst on a sheltered range and with a good rest whilst comfortable but that doesn't mean your capable of it out in the field leaning on a gatepost/fence in the rain and wind whilst cold and wet and fed up Nick

Good bit of a advice there mate Bob - you might need to look at windows locks etc if your FEO thinks you need them, or better door locks if your in a 'bad area' but then again its down to the FEO. And yeah they will want to see/hang off/beat the **** out of your cabinet before granting the certificate. Oh and Ian - If its been a month and they haven't cashed your cheque then I'd give them a ring mate, it should be the first thing they do when they receive the application so it may or been lost etc. And even if it hasn't its always good to know eh!

Agreed. Whilst it may not be in the same league as a daystate or a theoben I've yet to find another rifle that gives the same value for money. The S4** series is good value for money, idiot proof and there is a good owners club and modding community. Having said that I prefer my air ranger but then again for the price it should be better.

I've always found .177 better for squizzers in a non-FAC rifle, they are very tough little ******* and the extra penetration of the .177 over .22 made all the difference for me when I was using air rifle...I now use .410 shotgun with light cartridges

Yeah agreed speed of swing and choke have a lot more to do with consistently good shooting than using faster cartridges.

Yeah worth having a look like you say, knew about the P gasket but not about the core plugs leaking. Oh that's nice mate Having a spare bulkhead is a bit handy - its bound to be needed sooner or later! Love my landy...but the head gasket is going as of yesterday Loosing water but hasn't overheated yet. Gonna have to the head off this weekend and sort it. On my AL391 Beretta the barrel info (chamber, length, bore etc) is stamped on the left hand side on the 'outside' the chamber if you see what I mean. I know all new Beretta semis have this information stamped on them so I should imagine its somewhere on the barrel on the 302. Whatever you do don't 'have a go and find out' at the least you have a broken gun and the worst is...well I'm sure you could imagine.

For gods sake its a staged photo come on why are we arguing? If this was a photo of a guy with the bolt closed and the photo wasn't staged, i.e not a mock up just a picture of his rifle then I would agree with you MC, the bolt should be open for all to see. But it wasn't, it was a photo intended to draw a smile from us, not all this rubbish dis-crediting the guys firearms handling. Please could be take this in the way it was obviously intended rather than make the man feel bad about starting a argument when it was the last thing he wanted.
