kip270
Well after the hassle we had last year for bisley, are we going to cover all bases this year and get it on? Had the chance to meet up with some great guy's from here, but would like to have a weekend of shooting this time round
Mungler
I am deffo on for it. I believe FM has the reigns.
dunganick
This is a currently a work in progress, Me and FM (mainly FM) are looking into how possible it is this year. Currently it seems like it may, however it might not be such a 'low key event' as last year We will let you know once we know something constructive. Dunkield
Nick/FM how will you overcome the 'competent shooter' nonsense?
dunganick
Nick/FM how will you overcome the 'competent shooter' nonsense? Work in progress, currently the only means is for the BASC to run an event. They have home office approval to allow non 'competent' shooters to shoot at bisley. However it is unclear at this stage of costs etc.... or a range of other complexities.
Dunkield
When I spoke to them about it, they said they would rule out the suggestion of getting a load of BASC members together down there to do their 'test' That may be worth looking into, but expect some reaction to the fact they will want to charge for it
Wookie
Can we not get David_BASC to come along to add some authority to it? I would love to come down and finally meet people.
Dunkield
Why does it need authority? It is weekend for a bit of shooting (not much usually) and a few beers and laughs.
dunganick
Its Probably best if its left with us for a bit. Because of the new reg's, chances are, unless all of us do the nessicary course before the event (also an option we are looking at) we have very limited options. Watch this space. dunganick
Sparkie I suspect that this is based more on last years regs, as you need a photo id etc... to shoot now (as i understand it). However we are currently talking to BASC and David Knowles (the guy who is incharge of all things bisley). Best thing for the time being is to leave it with me and FM, we are doing our best to put together the rifle part of bisley, i dont want to say how likely or not it is untill i have some hard facts. Dunkield
You do need the card Nick, but luckily there is no photo. So if it does come off, and I can't make it, someone can be me for the day

Ferret Master
So who is going to be the Chairman of the ad hoc PW Gun Club and do all the certifications on the day? Nobody I expect. Afterall if anything happens Mr Chairman is gonna be answering some serious questions. Like Nick said, we are 'on it'. Watch this space. So if it does come off, and I can't make it, someone can be me for the day Thats confusing as my club and bsrc when we shoot competitions with them insist on them being supported by a photo id as well. Time will tell
MC
I think that this bloody competency certificate will harm the NRA/NSC more than they anticipate. Everyone I speak to has a different take on it. It does seem to be annoying a lot of people.
Dunkield
Yes it all seems very random, I have taken the BASC test and got the card to prove it, but it has no photo. I bet range bookings have taken a massive hit, I might book a target just to enjoy not being surrounded by weirdo's in soldier 95 costumes. And it all has to be done again next year What a palaver. So let's just go along for the weekend and not shoot and get drunk instead, or go to a range that isn't affected by the MOD
