big cat

Numbers of wild cat were thought to be released in 1976 when the Dangerous Wild Animals Act was introduced as people figured it was a cheaper option than paying for the license.

It stands to reason that these releases would be done in the more remote areas where these sightings tend to come from so its not unreasonable to suppose that animals have paired up and produced subsequent generations.

Why?

The chances of 2 of the same type of big cat being released and one being male and the other female and being released close, ish and finding each other and having a successful mating and then bringing them up and killng all the food involved in that without interfering with humans and then them offspring growing up and doing it again and again is in my opinion very unreasonable.

not that im convinced of the existance of big cats in the wild in britain there is always the possibility that several people may have kept breeding pairs or even groups of them which could of been released when the dwa licensing came into force

A few months ago apparently panthers were spotted in my area, fairly close, only 2 roads away, it was reported in the local paper. I got my sister's dog staying with us for a few days and I have locked the back gate, he is a fierce dog but I doubt he would be able to hold off a panther.

I'd land a shot on it if I had my 6.5 or .375 wih me. If I had a smaller gun I'd have to back down unless I thought I'd get eaten anyway. I think they exist, but I have to say that I'm surprised I've never seen one myself.

Why would you want to land a shot on it Nick ?

Look at things in perspective here, if they were released in 1976, how many people have being killed/attacked by one?

I don't think that they are a threat, if they were, something would have happened by now...nearly 32-33yrs now...!

That's if they exist,

BJ.
