TFGear Primal AP Extreme Boots

I'm looking for anyone who might have used these boots and could give me any info on them. I'm having the battle in my head of "do I need boots or wellies" and the boots are winning at the moment. I've seen a lot of the topics on here about this subject and I don't like the possibility of the wellies getting split or punctured as knowing my luck this would happen on my first walk through the woods! Another factor I need to consider is that we walk around 4 miles when we are rough shooting and I've been told that wellies are not too good for doing a lot of walking and boots would be better but this info came from the shop trying to sell me some £150 Lowa boots.

Any info would be very much appreciated. :good:

I have boots and wellies, When rough shooting i wear either. Walking 4 miles in quailty wellies is no problem but you may well find them more expensive than the boots you are looking at, my Aigle ISO wellies are bout £100.00 but fantastic. For dryer weather i use my other boots, i have a pair of Brashers very good but again about £100.00. Difficult to beat the wellies in the mud around the farms at this time of year.

Ive got an old pair of brasher Hillmasters, Goretex lined so waterproof to near the top of the tongue. Very comfy for walking in, and keep my feet pretty warm when im fishing. Got them from mountain Warehouse http://www.mountainwarehouse.com/ Used to work for them so got a nice discount, but they were priced at £55 retail so bit of a bargain, given ive had them 5 years ish

I'll have a look at the Tay muckboot as they seem to get good reviews but I'm still a little concerned that wellies might damage easily :hmm:.

I thought I needed a pair of wellies and had a quick look at these.

They (probably all neoprene based boots) seem very flimsy to me, I'm really

looking for a bit of support in a boot. My current boots are an old pair

of hiking boots that have a fairy rigid sole which I like also, it makes walking

over boulders/walls etc much easier.

Is there enough/any support in the muckboots?

Forgot to say, those TFGear boots look pretty good for the money. Are they not

waterproof when standing in water, or are they not waterproof at all?

Nial.

mate are they the ones that cost about £50, if so, then they are the same as mine got from angling direct and they are 100% waterproof. I've even stood in the margins past ankle depth whilst fishing and still had dry feet, they're also very lightweight, only drawback i've found is your feet do sweat a bit in them (non breathable) so pong a bit if you walk a long way.
