Sniperfox,

If you have nothing constructive to say then why don't you run along and play with the other children in the playground.

Ripping into someone at every opportunity will only get you banned (hopefully)

Calm down people.Let`s keep to the context of the thread-Please.

Well said bullet boy :good:

Is this guy "sniperfox" for real??? is it a troll??.......

I own a 243 and there is no way you can shoot an accurate 2" group at 300 yards with a 17HMR, I have shot an HMR a few times and unless you are benchrest shooting I just don't buy it.....

Why don't you just p*** off? We're all bored now! You took a lucky shot at a bunny at 300 yards and hit it. Not exactly sporting or a true picture of what the HMR can do. Do us all a favour and get over it, because if we have to take sides we wont be taking yours ok?

Back on topic I like CZs. They shoot well and are well built for the money. Tikkas are accurate but I don't like the plastic bits. If you don't mind them they are very good rifles. I have both and would rather have a CZ I think. Sako are good, Steyrs are very smooth and seem good too. I don't know anything about Remington.

If I bought a .243 it would be a CZ sporter.

I did a search and found bad things about older Tikka`s about 01/02 they were recalled, did you mean old as in real old or old as in a couple of years?

I do like the remington 700 the stainless fluted one but would get rid of that nasty black stock and put some nice wood on it!

Been looking at the T3 laminated stainless too.

Forget second hand, someone else has had the best years out a second hand rifle, and of course - they have only ever had a couple of hundred rounds through them.

Buy a new Ruger Hawkeye - Stainless, Synthetic Stock. Less than 600 quid s/c - mine was 585 and I bet prices have come down since.

Great rifle. Light, perfect balance, slim, ergonomic, beautiful and different. Everyones got a Tikka, Sako etc.....

Fister is referring to the M55 and M65 series, and the 590/595/690/695 series of Tikkas. The latter series preceded the T3 range.

njc110381 has a T3 laminated stainless, if I recall correctly.

I will give another thumbs up ( some one has to) for the howa 1500 I have the stainless varmint version, and it shoots very well , but IS ammo fussy, fortunately it likes Winchester's so I can feed it relatively cheaply :good: the trigger come set at 8lbs or over so it needs lightening a fair bit, but all in all for the money I am well pleased with mine.

cheers KW

Winchester, ruger or remington get my vote, have used different versions of each and coulcnt fault the quality or accuracy :good:

edit: add savage arms to that list too

I bought a Winchester Model 70 243 at the weekend I paid 570 for it with a free Simmons scope.

I will put that on my rim fire.

At that price you can't go wrong, I have over the past 25 years of shooting never had any problems with any of the rifles I have had.

I would say unless you are a game keeper or unemployed don't go for a more expensive rifle.

You will never send enough lead down one to make any difference to the barrel. I have never whatever I have shot regarding blot action rifles ever felt the difference or had a jam.

To me if you can shoot a one inch group its enough don't waste your money.

If you want to spend money spend it on the scope.

if you want to target shoot buy a 2k target rifle, if you want to shoot fox or deer buy anything that gives a 1 inch group , most rifles can do that.

Hi,

this has made interesting reading. My thoughts (having owned numerous firearms and sold over 1000 when I had my shop). Out of the box for accuracy and adjustable triggers - Tikka T3 or Savage with the accu trigger - both extremely accurate. Remington triggers are a pain as are weatherby and howa (same place of manfacture) Dont like newer Sakos with 3 locking lugs (the top lug raceway exposes the back of the case to your face when the bolt is turned down). My personal preferance (if you want to spend) is the RWS Titan. Bolt locks into the back of the barrel, receiver is aluminium and you can change barrels in 10 minutes. Barrels are hammerforged gun is lite and accurate. On a budget though T3 every time.

Cheers :good:

I do indeed. In 6.5x55. It's a nice rifle, it shoots very well. The trigger is nice, they are easy to adjust and very crisp. No creep at all! My only niggle with it is the plastic trigger guard, magazine and bolt shroud. None of them have ever given me a reason to dislike them and are faultless, I just don't like plastic!

I have an SPS Remmy, it's light enough to carry around (although I've now put a mod on it  ) it wasn't expensive, the trigger is much better than the older remmys and it'll put privis within 3/4 inch at 100 yards. Does the job for me.

Have a look at Howa - I got a .223 1500 sporter after looking at Remington, Weatherby, and a T3, money did play a small factor but I was willing to pay that bit extra for a decent gun - in the end the cheapest one @ £399 won - it felt better, fitter better and I've been out today to zero a new scope in and its grouping cheap serbian PPU ammo using a £60 scope within the size of a 1p piece @ 100 yards

What's the rifle like in the synthetic ? Is it like a cheapy synthetic or is it nice ? Im debating between this and a Tikka T3 Hunter.

Hi,

the T3 lite stock is better quality than the Remmington SPS stock. The SPS metal is usually parkerised rather than blued while the T3 can be blued or stainless, both are push feed, T3 is much smoother in the action. Remington SPS has blind magazine well (no floor plate) T3 has a detachable box magazine. T3 has a much better trigger then the Remington. Out here the T3 and the SPS are about the same money.

T3 for me everytime.

Cheers :shifty:

Hm I think the tikka would be the best rifle. What do you think of the tikka T3 lite as opposed to the T3 Hunter ?

Both look great rifle, im unsure which would be the better one :hmm:

If only used for foxing the T3 lite everytime :shifty:

Still hold a group after 5 shots :hmm:
