Buck
Hi All, I have always shot with a a 12 bore, but have now decided to go for a 20b, probably a used Siver Pigeon which I hope to use for most of my shooting. I shoot over decoys, roost shoot and flight when the conditions are favourable, my question is basically what is the best cartidge to use and which load. Thanks
John_R
My admittedly limited experience so far has been with Gamebore Traditional Game, 24g loads of number 6, and that got me my first pheasants this Beater's day. I could have shot all day with those, nice soft recoil and I managed to down a few birds too. I just picked up some 28g loads to see how those feel on the shoulder! Hope to try them out late next week. Edited March 8, 2009 by john_r
Guest topshot_2k
RC20 T3's or Express Special game
Nats
i can second that the RC 20 T3s are fantastic try not to go above 28gms as they can become a little punchy. i used to shoot nothing but express but had that much problems with them not ejecting properly (Beretta 20 bore)

Hewey
Another vote for RC20 T3's in 6's. Used than for quite a while now, I have tried others but nothing i've tried beats them.
Ferret Master
I shoot Hull Sterling Game 28g and they are good. The only RC cartridges I shoot in 20 bore are Sipe's as they are the only ones they produce in fibre. FM
kirkhotbarrels
i use rc20 in 5 shot and rate these as good as any 12 bore shell well maybe not quite as good as the old winchester westerns!!!!!!
gdunc
I've recently switched to 20g and have stocked up on RC20 T3s 28g 6 Limited stock of decent clay carts in the shop so had to go with Express - I'll see how they perform.
Sprinter
Current diet are Eley CT28s in 6s and Eley VIPs 28g 6s. If you are expecting a few decoying nicely switch to 24g 6s or 7.5s they are suprisingly effective on decoying pigeon and are a damn sight easier on the shoulder. Mungler
If anyone wants them and is local to Essex, I have 250 Diana Game loads in No. 6 going spare. Don't have a 20 bore anymore and need to get rid.
Salop Matt
20g semi autos are great and not much difference between 24g and 28g in kick but the 28g cycle better and obviously your putting more lead into your pattern.
Mr Potter
Eley VIP 28g Fibre in 5's for game and 24 or 25g yellow ones for decoyed pigeon. Mr Potter
John_R
I have never seen a 20 gauge cart that wasn't yellow, but then again I am pretty new to shotguns.
