MerseaDavid
Went out on the peas again with dad today, it started off quite slow (we had shot 20 by 12 pm) but from then on they started coming in quite well in good numbers. We ended the day with 193 pigeons, 9 doves, 3 jays and 1 crow. So not a bad day.

Pedro
When you loft the decoys like that, do you always leave the pole attached? It looks like it would scare them off? Plus, the bouncer you've put out, do you put it on the o/s edge of the pattern? Do you use a magnet? P.
The Sipe-ist
where are the rest? there only seems to be about sixty there.
MerseaDavid
where are the rest? there only seems to be about sixty there. There were still more to collect + we had dropped alot in the wood behind us and we leave them for the farmer to pick up with his dog later in the day. Yeah we always leave the pole with the pigeon and we have never had any turn away (the pole has camo tape on it) + normally by the time a pigeon can see the is a pole there the bird is already dead. It depend on how the birds are coming in with regards to the bouncer, we started off with it on the left hand side of the pattern but as the day went on we noticed that birds were turning off so we moved it to the center of the pattern and this worked well. We do have a magnet but we have not used it for quite a while now (3-4 weeks), we normally use them on taller crops or just on oil seed rape. Pedro
Thanks for the reply, a lesson to us all I'm deffo going to start using lofted decoys. Watching the birds fly around, you see them going towards others sitting in the trees all the time. My only problem is what to use to loft them? P. MerseaDavid
For many years I just used garden canes to loft the decoys into the trees, but I we needed more hight so we then went on to light weight metal poles that lock into each other. They do sell poles on ebay at times but you have to leave them all attached together.
