Cheers all. JD Edited April 29, 2009 by JackD

30-06hunter
yes my best friend is Canadian and i go over for the yearly family hunt. i have seen how much some people pay for that and i count my lucky stars it only costs me the price of the flight and $200 for food and whiskey at the camp. the deer is 100% used up a few mates over there are butchers so the freezer is always stocked, the hide is donated to the local indian reserve so they can use it for clothing etc. and any meat that isnt needed is donated to a local homless shelter. ( thats right the homeless eat venison over there !! )

swift4me
I hunted for the last few years in Alberta for coyotes, ducks, geese and wolves with a friend who is a whitetail and moose guide. The whitetails in Canada are huge. Many over 320 pounds on the hoof. The trophy hunts in Alberta are not cheap... I think over $4,500 for most of the quality outfitters, although now there are no doubt openings. Huge deer and lots of them. They like their deer clients to show up with guns having calibres that start with a 3.

fallowbuck
Good pics, I have been to Nova Scotia but actually found the Whitetail were rather thin and over hunted,I believe the local Indians there the "Mic Macks" can hunt all year round, while I and the other hunters had only two weeks or so! Its a great country and I hope I can go back. I had no probs with my rifle via Air Canada when I went out but things have changed slightly here and I think you now need to apply for a export license from H.M ,Customs and you need paper work from your host for the Canadian end. I enjoyed it!!Even saw a bear or two!
new to the flock
Well Jack D I recognize Bass Pro. From the couple of hunt pictures I would say you are in either the Muskokas or Manatoulin. Am I close? NTTF
30-06hunter
hey your right on the money there fella! it was Manatoulin.. how did you tell that from the pics??
new to the flock
Well Manitouln was my first choice as it was overly coniferious for the Muskokas and because the picture from the tree stand showing the clearing.....Manitoulin is so typical of those. Oh and the fact that I worked on the Penninsula as a guide for 6 years. NTTF
