wannabefisher
just kidding got home from work to find supper being cooked for me. Looked out the window and saw a muntjac nibbling some grass, almost exactly where I shot my last one. Ran upstairs, got the gun out; boom...wallop. But then another munty popped out from nowhere and ran into the field. Reload, boom...wallop. So here is a picture of Munties no. 2 & 3 from my bedroom window when I got out the offal I found that the male's kidney are a much lighter shade than the female's. The dark ones are what I would consider to be a "normal" colour. Are the lighter ones OK, |I've never come across this before?

Salop Matt
Theres ment to be munti`s within a 20 min drive of my home, i have no idea of what sort of numbers are involved and no one in the area will give permision which is a shame. Good shooting buy the way. And how long did it take you to butcher ?
wannabefisher
And how long did it take you to butcher ? i'm not very fast. I guess it takes me about 10 minutes to gralloch each one. The last one I butchered took me about an hour from getting it out of my cellar to all the bits being in the fridge and the table cleaned up etc.

mark_mjs93
the kidneys are fine mate, they are both of good colour, did you butcher the male first? did you leave the kidneys of the male out in the open whilst butchering the female? if so its nothing major, honestly they are fine, if anything its probably the female is younger than the Male.... Hope this clears things up for ya mate... (p.s: much better than last time :( ) oh and no im not a deer stalker im geussing from my vast knowlege  ATB Mark Edited May 20, 2009 by mark_mjs93

Well done lad......... thanks As said before, they look ok. you will always find a difference in colour comparing offal from one animal to another. It all looks very healthy I guess the difference this time is I've never shot two at once before, so never seen two sets of kidneys next to each other! still haven't been able to eat them yet normally they get eaten within a couple of hours
