LeeinVA
What i can say is my wife loves it when i put cream all over her baps.. Most American ladies love their baps to have a nice 'glazed' look. I like my baps the size of a dinner plate

LeeinVA
Lee, do you think the US bap is generally larger than the average UK bap? Y,all are on the decimal system 12 inches is longer then 12 centimeters, and i am talking about a 'foot' measurement, not my endowment
Ozzy Fudd
but sometimes you can get baps that are too big, you cant finish them all in one sitting, but that can lead to them going stale
LeeinVA
I have read that you test the freshness by squeezing them Is there any truth to that
DaveK
I thought it was gentle kneading until you can pinch them and they stand up? Edited June 20, 2009 by DaveK

Mungler
Having a bread making session this afternoon. Anyone got any interesting recipes? It's going to be manual - no bread maker machine
Edward
We found a Kenwood chef wotsit makes better bread (you have to get the dough out and put it in the oven) than a bread machine, I find bread from a machine is a bit cakey
henry d
Having a bread making session this afternoon. Anyone got any interesting recipes? It's going to be manual - no bread maker machine First crush a clove of garlic with some salt and the leaves from a sprig of rosemary, then when crushed together add olive oil. Make dough as per, then after 1st proving, knock out onto a baking sheet into a flat rectangle and then drizzle over oil mix ! Or...... Make dough and add olives and sundried tomatoes, use the oil from the tommies instead of the oil in your usual recipe for dough.
stevethevanman
I had a bread maker and it came with a book with loads of recipies in it. It was way, way better than off the shelf bread and when eaten with the loaf still hot out of the baker it tasted amazing with nothing on it.
