George1990
Made the hide out of some £10 netting and some £99 hide poles.... Actually, got some hazel sticks out the woods and leaned them on the bush behind. This gave a natural roof which was good, as the birds seemed to fly over me and sit in the trees, then come down on to the decoys later. Wasn't directly under the flight path but bought enough over. About for 2 and half - 3 hours and shot 12 birds. Found ten.
George1990
Here they are, and the view from the hide. Cartridges are Gamebore Clear Pigeon - 30g of No. 6. Certainly makes them puff out feathers. Some of the wings are open as I added them to the pattern to look like landing birds. George1990
Taken with my AA TX200.
George1990
The same bunny as above. Taken at close range, those air rifles are quite nasty. Used a .22 AA Field pellet.
turk101
Well done George good shooting! Just a bit of advice , when building your hide try to add a little more natural foilage, ie: leaves, branches etc: to give you the extra cover. Might help you bag a few more. still good shooting mate. regards turk101

George1990
Thanks. Missed a few but is to be expected. I'll add some extra foliage next time. Need to sharpen the ends of my sticks (err, hide poles) as I won't always be able to lean them up :o Going again tomorrow weather permitting. ShropshireJohn
Nice one George! I'm hopefully going shooting with dad over some freshly sown Kale/Typhon tommorow or later on in the week (seedlings are popping up and the pigeons are on them already) Nice shooting with the Air Rifle, they are more dangerous than most people think! speaking of nasty mess.. last week I went out with a friend on his permission, I took a shot from 40 yards with my Weihrauch HW100 on a bunny, I gave a little bit of hold over saw the rabbit drop and heard a clack behind. Walked over to inspect the rabbit and its eye was bulging out, I'd gone and landed a pellet between eye/ear on the one side and it had come out directly through the centre of its eye on the other side Not pretty, the clack was the pellet hitting the back of a tin farm building behind. Cosd
Well done, I'm sure you had a great day. One bit of advice though. you can see the track you left in the crop taking the picture of your hide; Farmers aren't pleased if we damage the crops, we're there to protect them. Try to walk in the tractor tracks to minimise damage.
George1990
I was in the tractor tracks when I took the photo That bit's the worst as it was my main way in to recover shot birds and pick up my decoys which consistently fell down. Thought it best to stick to one route than to make numerous albeit less well-trod paths. Went out again today but they were feeding elsewhere. :o
Zapp
Good do George I'm itching to get out after the birds, but they have started swathing the rape around me (where I cant shoot), so I have a while to go yet. ZB
