njc110381
Well my .375H&H is gone. Probably my favourite gun in my safe if I had to pick one, but I just couldn't use it. It's a sorry day for me. I wont say on the open forum what I'm thinking about my FEO at the moment, but it's nothing positive. Has anyone else ever got rid of something they loved due to silly restrictions grinding them down? I've replaced it with a crappy .300WM - how dull
hiho
why did they make you change it

swift4me
As a foreigner, ignorant of you gun laws.... please give me a tidbit of why they disallow that and let you have the 300 Win Mag. It is obviously a gun for travel. Sorry to hear, but curious. Pete
Dunkield
Christ what are you going to talk about now? Oh well, better to have loved and lost, or something like they say don't they?
Baldrick
Were you busted by the FEO for shooting another squirrel with the .375?
libs
Were you busted by the FEO for shooting another squirrel with the .375? I hope you took a headshot, you wouldn't want a runner
Mungler
The FEO came round for a spot inspection and caught him in his cabinet with his trousers down giving his H&H a special cleaning. Well, that's what the incident report said.
Dirty Harry
NJC, I assume they would not let you have it for anything other than the range. Have you got the 300WM yet. Is that on an open ticket? Harry
flytie
As one of the few "big game rifles" that meet the ballistic deer legal requirements of the UK, I cannot see what they have got against you having one. This sort of thing does annoy me, it's pettifogging bureaucracy gone mad. What was the reason given Njc? ft
njc110381
Mung, thanks for giving me an idea what you do with your spare time. Now I think I know why you're looking for a posh .223, anything bigger would be a loose fit! Flytie. They just didn't like it. As they're usually pretty good to me I didn't want to push it. No point rocking the boat for something I probably wouldn't use even if I could! Harry. The gun is on its way. Open conditions for Vermin, Fox and Deer. You just wait until the our next lamping outing....and you thought the Hornet was a little loud!

Dirty Harry
Neil, Remember the farmers wife down the road who did not want me to shoot the foxes? Well all her chickens were killed at 9pm one day last week! We will have to sort out a date when you have the 300wm for a bit of fox bashing. Harry
njc110381
Harry, I'm really not sure you want that! I haven't got a mod slot for it yet so this thing is going to sound like a cannon going off until I get that sorted! I have however just purchased myself some 90grn Speer TNT bullets for the 6.5x55 which would be just as good and probably a fair bit safer on the ground it would be used on. You just want to shoot my new rifle don't you?
alexm
Forgive me but I'm still a bit confused about what the problem was? Is it that they wouldn't grant for deer?

Has anyone else ever got rid of something they loved due to silly restrictions grinding them down? I've replaced it with a crappy .300WM - how dull it actually says in the home office guidance section 13.something (bit about big game shooting) if a person and it uses the .375h&h as an example has a big game gun suitable for plains game and it is used abroad/target shooting it should also be allowed for deer hunting if the applicant does not already have a suitable deer rifle....i know its abit late but just a hint
Dirty Harry
But he has a 6.5x55 for deer.
Dunkield
I know 2 people with .375's including deer, and they have other deer calibres in their cabinets as well.
njc110381
But he has a 6.5x55 for deer. And a slot for a .300 win mag. I have too many guns to do the same job. If I could have shown that I shoot large deer regularly then there's a good chance I could have got it, but if I'm honest I don't! Having a .375 to slot munties with is a little pointless. As it was pointed out to me what I want isn't a good reason, and I certainly didn't need it!
