seisobs
Hi Guy's I have a Sako .22 LR, a couple of shotguns and a Sako .243. I am looking for an air rifle to shoot in and around barns for ferals and rooks on a few of my permissions, farmers are getting peed off with them constantly hammering their grain stores. For obvious reasons I will not use the 22 rimfire. Can anyone recommend a good air rifle? .22 or 177? I have no experience with air rifles. Price is not a problem. Thanks in advance
tweedledee
i would have to reccomend air arms s400 series.best value out there i would say.try to spend a little more and go pcp. much easier to shoot having no recoil from a spring
HARRIS
I agree with tweedledee and go PCP but i would recomend the Air Arms S410 which is a multishot and would be i deal for ferals around barns. I think having to reload after everyshot with the S400 would be a pain as i have found with mine. But if you couldnt go PCP and had to get a spring i would recomend the Webley Exocet XS (if you can find one) or the BSA Lightning Xl HARRIS

realtreedave
try a gunpower stealth mate ,i know theyre ugly but you want it for kicking around barns and farmyards not the catwalk.a tin of pelets per charge ,lightweight, weather tolerant[parkerised alloy/synthetic],easy to fit lamps and lasers[i know lasers can be gimmickey generaly but if you set them for ten yards/metres they are invaluable for feral control in buildings],easy and safe to work on and repair yourself.mine gets dragged out of the cabinet far more than my more conventional air rifles.always go for .22,.177 just causes more runners.and welcome to airgunning it will only provide you with more shooting oppurtunities than you previously thought

JonnyR
Air-Arms S410-ENOUGH SAID! Couldn't agree more. I just got a 410 carbine and it is deadly, quiet and so easy to use.
Beardo
Air Arms are great rifles you can't really go wrong, i'd personally go for a Weirauch HW100K or maybe a Falcon Lighthunter for barn work
lord_seagrave
I only shoot a springer (HW97k in .20), and a heavy one at that. It's would be a good idea to try a few out and see what fits you best. I'd agree that a multi-shot PCP rifle would be best for this kind of work. Best of luck. huntercarbine
Air Arms are great rifles you can't really go wrong,i'd personally go for a Weirauch HW100K or maybe a Falcon Lighthunter for barn work i agree with this, as youve stated its for barn and buildings shooting you want a lightweight carbine. you'l have lots of standing shots so need a relatively light gun, plus the new falcon range are now regulated so plenty of shots per charge. ideal. Colster
Would agree some sort of multi-shot PCP is the thing to try, if money is no object: how about Theoben Rapid or BSA R10 Edited August 17, 2009 by Colster
scotttomo
I can recommend the BSA S10 Bull barrel carbine. Nice and short for barn work,10 shot multi and regged for plenty of shots and consistency. Just got mine blueprinted by John Bowkett and it's simply stunning to shoot. My 2 pence worth anyhoo , happy shopping whatever you get Scott
airssassin
I use an HW100K in .177 and it's excellent for this kind of thing. I have used mine on allsorts including jackdays, woodies, ferrals, magpies, and of course squirrels.
