groach1234
Well i found a new gun shop today (whilst in search of a tweed suit) and it has a AYA number 4 in box lock with ejector and the petrol like thing on the action if you know what i mean (feel free to enlighten me on the proper term) and it was £800 I'm looking at going back to a side by side for the game season as i just like the feel of them but still will keep the silver pig as i am very happy with it. So what are they like and what are the worth? Thanks, George

Paul223
Colour case hardened
ProteuS
I believe what you are refering to is called colour case hardening. No.4's are a great little gun, I have one I use for walked up stuff as it is light with relativley short barrels. saying that, i'm a big fan of the XXV's. Mine has served me well, it isn't the prettiest gun in the world but it handles fine and is reliable.
the_commoner
all depends on condition etc obviously but seems a lot to me, i know of a couple round here that are going for £495 at a local gunshop, one of which is my old one !!!!! nice guns but just didn't get on with the one i had for whatever reason
arjimlad
I paid £375 for mine in 2000, it was made in 1978 and has had little use. Just had an ejector re-timed but otherwise it is a great gun. £800 ought to buy a new-ish one in as new condition. Check out guntrader for some ideas on pricing. I can't believe anyone buys these new at over £2,000 when the used selection is so good.
bruno22rf
Sold mine on this site less than a year ago-cant remember how much exactly but was less than £200-good condition with proffesionally oiled stock and cleaned chequering-didnt get many enquiries. Edward
If it is mint (I mean really mint) I would pay that.
beatingisbest
I love mine, will probably never sell it. Very well made guns, nice and light aswell. Find out the serial number as that will tell you how old it is. Mine was built in '88 and only had a few hundred cartridges through it as i knew the previous owner who bought it brand new. Popgun
the going rate is about £500 round here
Sprinter
I have one with 26" barrels. It's a lovely fast handling little beast. Had it since new and it's never missed a beat, it is still the nicest closing gun i have handled lovely solid smooth click. I have no idea why i am thinking of getting rid of it, maybe i need to go have my bumps felt.
