wildfowler.250
I walk my spaniel everynight with a friends well trained staff without it showing any aggression towards my dog.Cant deny that staffs are aggressive but totaly agree with Dave1979 that it is a owner issue.Find Mikees axe in the back of the head a bit harsh but his licence idea is spot on The owners were your average couple if you like...just gave the impression that the dog was very aggressive and not some nutter who had made it that way ...(ps I hate them ). Imperfection
If you ban Staffies-where would it end? Why not also Rottweilers,German shepherds,Bull terriers,Mastiffs,Huskies? Why not ban dogs which weigh more than 10kgs? Infact why not ban all dogs because they're all capable of biting and have big scary pointy teeth.Fact is,you'll always have bad owners, but why should genuine people miss out on owning a Staffie just because of a handful of numpties. GW80
Personally i like staffies as a breed, but must echo the thoughts regarding some of the owners who all seem to call their dog tyson etc. every breed of dog has the potential to be vicious, i had a lab when i was a child that had to be destroyed for attacking the coal man and left him with a lovely big scar up his right arm!! vole
To refer to your cat which has just been ripped to bits in your own home as vermin suggests absolute incompetence when dealing with the public.I think they had better do something about the numptie who cannot look after his dogs before a kid gets killed. All the talk about dogs being "soft" and "like babies" gets away from the fact that they are animals with animal instincts. I wouldnt leave my Jack Russell with a young child. Boromir
I hate them totally out of all the staffordshire bull terriers and thats hundreds I have seen only one has not shown aggression to my dogs when I walk past them. Its the owners that make them bad total bullcrap, in a dog like that its easy to flick a switch in its head and turn them aggressive it's in there nature to fight, I can bet you that the owners that have staffies say that they will never hurt a thing have actually done so. So dont go on about how Staffordshire bull Terriers are the Nanny dog cause your being fed **** if you believe that. I think there should be dog licences for the bull breed and other known species that are known to be aggressive such as Akita's. Sorry Dave 1969.. staff in general are a very loyal loving breed!!! Bullocks Pete me and my mrs have a staffie and would trust her more than any other dog i have ever owned , i have had alsations german shepards labradors king charles a couple of whippets and my staffie is the softest dog i have ever owned ! she would never snap bite or anything , it is the owners who make the dogs what they are ! i no someone who as a black lab and it is the most evil dog i have ever seen try to stroke than and it will have you so you saying shoot all labs now ? should ban the ******* owners not take it out on the dogs ! Has a Labrador ever killed a child? I would rather leave a child in a room with a wolf than a Staffordshire bull terrer.

I know of plenty of Staffies and none of them have displayed an ounce of aggression and no-i dont own one so have no hidden agenda.

jimdfish
you are tarring all staffies with the same brush! This arguement can and does not hold water. should we ban all fast cars? all drivers under the age of twenty one as they statistically cause more deaths than any other age group? Fresian cattle as they kill more ramblers than most other cattle? Glass pint pots in pubs as they cause more damage than plastic pots? Inner city ethnic groups as statistically they cause a greater proportion of the crime within the catchment area? Handguns to lawfully abiding people? The right to hunt vermin with hounds? The right to course hairs? Why stop at dogs? The landlord of my local ( The Plough, Shaw Heath, Good Food, Good Beer) had his dog put on the local "dangerous dog" register by thpolice recently. A ****zu! go figure, a dog biting someone. Who wouyld have thought I have to doubt the veracity of your claim to be "friends" of these people whose dogs were attacked as it seems the majority of these attacks happen in silly season. My grandma's friends friends neighbour had their poodle eaten whilst eating at an chinese resteraunt and the owner of the dog would only eat microwaved meals afetr this point. Imagine their consternation that when standing to close to the microwave he burned his liver out. What are the chances? Also, who has a dog flap big enough to let labs in? Never mind rogue staffs, they should be worried about the local chavs crawling in and being licked by ever so friendly labs1
Ozzy Fudd
If they'd have come into my kitchen, they'd be a red smear on the floor tiles as for the usual "all devildogs should be shot/stabbed/poisoned" etc, thats ********. go sort out the owner. ps - oh and how many people who own sheep dogs have sheep? and how many people who have labradors actually use them to retrieve? Never mind rogue staffs, they should be worried about the local chavs crawling in and being licked by ever so friendly labs1 Well put Jim. Having had a Staffie for nearly 11 years now I can see both sides of the story. Owners have to accept responsibility for there dogs and Staffies do have a strong character. My dog plays with all the other dogs in the village and my three year old loves him to bits, she dresses him up and spends nearly all her days playing and brushing him. But, they are a very powerful dog and in the wrong hands can and do cause problems. The Police should be doing something about this as these dogs have been dangerously out of control in a public place which is an offence.

Tis1979
ive never seen a staff that wouldnt benefit from an axe in the back of the head, i absolutely hate them, i'm sure there are a few nice ones about but you could probably say that about ******. maybe the dog licence should be brought back, if you want one you apply like fac and get interviewed and assessed as to what sort of dog you would be allowed to have, how many of these **** holes would have a poodle if that is all they get granted. WELL MAYBE NOT As far as i can see dogs were bred to do different things, i have labs for retrieving, my mate has spaniels for flushing game but how many of the ******* chavs own a bull that need controlling. NONE END OFF mikee I'm sure you put that to get a reaction so here's one i have a 3 year old staff and she is very loving and wouldn't hurt a fly And if it's about having a dog for a purpose she works cover for me & retrieves pigeons granted not as well as the breeds mentioned but does it none the less to please me. It is also one of only a few breeds that the kennel club say are good with children. Agreed in the wrong hands it can be a completly different story but isn't that true for most breeds if you bring them up that way. Kind regards Tis
