Evil Elvis
I went out last night waith Raja Clavata and another mate last night. I met them there. As I walked into the permission there were 2 foxes sat as bold as brass where i couldnt shoot them as there were houses behind them. I walked further into the permission and saw another set of eyes, but it took off like a steam train across the feild and no amount of squeeking was going to stop him!!! So far not a rabbit in sight!! I walked another 100 yards and there were 3 sets of eyes, looked like a vixen and 2 cubs...just about to look and Raja Rang to see where I was and we arranged a rendevous point. I put the lamp back on, yep...three still there!!!!! off with the lamp, down on my knee, they were around 60-70 yards away. Lamp on and..........huh? a fox was sat there with 2 ....cats!!!! All three were looking down into a stream! I aimed just above one cats head into the shoulder of the fox, wallop....fox dropped like a stone......2 pussies leapt at least 3 feet into the air...hissed at the fox and ran!!!! Sorry about the poo photos....i left my camera at home.....always the way when you have a good result!!! Even at that range there was an entry wound and an exit wound, the round went straight through. As I was inspecting the fox i caught a glimpse of movement off to my left and behind me next to the stream, and there was another fox no more than 15 yARDS AWAY!!!! Just sat looking at me........I aimed low and smacked her straight in the chest, she backflipped and landed in the stream, the bank was too steep to risk retrieval so i left her there. Raja and Dunc joined me at that point and we headed off to an area that we had previously seen lots of rabbits, on arrival there werent any!!! i scanned around the freshly cut wheat feild and there was a set of eyes at around 90 yards just sat watching us, Raja and i lay down and dropped the pods out, on with the lamps and he was still there, we counted to 3 and shot simultaneously, raja at the head, me at the chest and with a 100th of a second between them we heard thud, thud!!! Both rounds had hit EXACTLY where we fired, the head was pulped and he had a large wound on his chest! the energy from the round popped his eyes out! i then stood up and scanned around us and there behind us on a hill was another set of eyes!!! At least 300 yards away, Dunc is very good at squeeking so we stood and tried to squeek him in, he began to edge closer out to around 200+ yards, but a quick scan to the left revealed another one!!! It was at 160 yards so Raja and i laid down and got the guns ready on the pods and Dunc squeeked his socks off!!! At around 100 yards he started to get skittish so we called it and took the shot, again on the count of 3 another double whammy was delivered, the animal didnt even twitch and there was a huge hole in its neck and again raja did his now signature headshot, straight through the eye!! We literally walked another 2-300 yards and there sat about 160-170 yards was another 2 foxes, the shot wasnt safe so we left Dunc there squeeking them and Raja and I sloped off to the left to try and get a safe shot, we watched in amazement as Dunc squeeked and one fox headed at him like a stean train stopped looked at him and walked off, but the time we got back to Dunc he was 90 yards past him into the feild, again we did the double whammy lying down off the pods and again the fox got a double dose!!! Our 5th fox of the night!! At this point Raja and Dunc left the farm, i had a very long walk back to my car during which time i shot 2 bunnies and missed a third that put its head down to feed as i pulled the trigger(dont you just hate it when that happens!!)and saw 4 more foxes that were unsafe to shoot. All in all a great 4 hours shooting!!!! Edited September 2, 2009 by Evil Elvis

Frenchieboy
Sounds like a great night and looks like some great shooting, especially the 5th photo down - PERFECT shot placement straight between the ear and the eye!

Raja Clavata
My most memorable night out shooting to date. Given the one I got Saturday night it's amazing to consider that 6 got it over those few days and there are still enough about to make for an even better night (if we take the master squeaker with us again) I wouldn' take head shots unless I was on the ground and off the pod, the upgrade to the S&B scope has really paid dividends (confidence booster). Evil Elvis
Those head shots were spot on dude!!!!! I still prefer engine room but hey when they get both.............gnight!!!
Raja Clavata
As you know mate, and typical of my shooting, despite being seemingly more straightforward - I have a far better record on head shots than I do engine room jobbies. Anyway great team work in my book.
njc110381
Good shooting! I like the idea of double tapping the Fox, I guess with a small calibre it gives a much better chance of success so well thought out! Having the confidence to shoot over the head of someones cat is pretty good going too
Evil Elvis
Thanks....i think the cat I shot over was a feral, they run and hide in the bank of a small ditch under a large oak tree............ I like the idea of the double whammy too, and while Raja and I never argue over a shot it saves the ...."you took more shots than me etc" which i get from one of my other shooting buddies, this way we both get to shoot and we make double sure they are dead. The only one that kicked or twitched all night was the one that went into the water!!!!
