Sprinter
Today caught a dog walker red handed, dog completely out of control, nowhere near a footpath, chasing poults around one of our release pens. Eventually it emerged with a dead poult and then some time later i think it had got another one. Unfortuantely i was a field away at the time. When i got there she was trying to get said mut to release the very second hand poult with no success. I gave her a very severe talking to (managing to avoid flowery language) but i have to admit i was very dismayed and flaming hopping mad. Took the dead bird off her (ripped apart and guts hanging out) for disposal and sent her packing. To be honest she was very apologetic , said all the right words and offered to pay for the damage. But she eventually saw that wasn't really the point
Bleeh
I know you shouldn't have to do this, but I've had great sucess with lowering the numbers of ''reasonable'' dog owners walking there dogs of the lead by simply putting ''Wildlife conservation area, all dogs must be walked on leads'' signs up along footpaths. Ferretboy111
I use the method of b******* them when they are annoying my poults but leaving them alone when they are walking across field margins that actually arent footpaths but are less likely to disturb my birds. Keeps a happy medium going, although I know all the dog walkers on my shoot detest me. My line to most dog walkers that have dogs off leads is; " Sorry do you mind keeping your dog on a lead; its just that ive got fox snares set around here (Not that I have) and im sure you wouldnt want your dog caught in one" Puts the **** up them. The old gamekeeper used to chuck rabbit guts in piles around certain known paths that arent public footpaths so the dogs would eat it and sick it up over their kitchen floor. Edward
We have had a similar thing, in our chicken pen it killed about 20 birds, so we sent her a bill for 30 chickens and they arent cheap at 20 quid a bird, I think it will teach her to keep her dog under control. People seem to think once the crops are cut and the grass is short they can walk anywhere On a slight de-railment, on one of our feilds which has a footpath down the side of it, every otherday this person walks along the top of the feild (trespassing I suppose) and releases 8 dogs across the feild which have killed all the hares and pheasants that may be nesting we even had a pair of jack snipe (which i found bits of), they have been told countless times to 'leave' and never come back or their dogs will be shot (not by me) yet the keep coming back

Robby22
Weve had countless number of irresponsible dog walkers-the last one was walking with just a lead in his hand, when asked where his dog was, he simply shrugged his shoulders an said "I dont know". Turned out his hairbrained lab, had done out one of our strips, A few polite words of caution and the warning that if it got into the sheep paddock it would be shot has since managed to persuade him to keep it on a lead. lister1
why do poeple have to make life hard for others. rspb can rspca **** off aswell. i'm all for protecting wildlife and stuff but not in a way of interfering with peoples legal ways. next time you see someone with a dog on your land follow them home have a good walk round there garden do a nice big dump on their lawn and kill any pets they have then phone the police to tell them the land owner is harissinfg you. yep i'm having a bad day and my rant has helped
