steve_b_wales
I went out last night with my mate Digit on to one of his permissions. We had been there on a few occasions, trying to call in a fox so that he could try his rifle out. We met about 9.30 and it was already dark. A perfect night for calling in foxes. Within 10 minutes, a fox was spotted at about 600 yards on the opposite side of the valley. Although he did not seem to be lamp shy, he just moved away slowly. This happened again twice. Then, after about a hour had gone by, I shone the lamp up to the top of the ridge of the opposite valley, and noticed that there were a few sheep running. It turned out that they were trying to get a fox to move on. I called the fox, using my callmaster, and it slowly made it's way down the mountain side and came towards us. At first, it was hard to spot through the scope, but it stopped for a brief moment, and digit took the opportunity and fired. I could hear the tell tale slap of bullet meeting flesh and bone. The fox was stopped instantly. I knew from past experience there, that the fox was approx 200 yards away when it was shot. Digit went and retrieved the fox, and it turned out to be a very healthy (until it was shot!) large cub. The Prvi Partizan bullet (22-250) had exited the cub's head, leaving a very large hole, although the aimpoint was actually on it's chest. All in all, an excellent shot by digit, and his rifle has now been christened. Thanks mate, I enjoyed the night very much. al4x
nice shot I'm guessing it had its head down hence the head shot when he thought he was chest shooting it, I had exactly that happen last week on one, couldn't find it for love nor money turned out it was a lot further out than I thought and got picked the next day where it fell

steve_b_wales
al4x. It wasn't a head shot, we don't do those. If you saw the other side of the cub's head (too graphic to post) you would see a very large exit hole. We could not find the entry hole, athough, as mentioned, the crosshairs were on it's chest. Hoping to get some more soon.
