Topgunners
On my way out yesterday morning to go Pigeon shooting I spotted about 150 Geese sitting in a stubble field that I have permission on. It was just about 6.30am and they were feeding already. The field is right next to a motorway, and I stopped my jeep and took a few pictures and videos. I had spotted a few a couple of days previously and amongst the geese were about 50-60 ducks. I got out of my jeep and crossed the lanes and as I entered the field they all stood up ready to go and my god-damn batteries ran out, 1 second video of take-off. Geese 1 Geese 2 Ducks Geese 3 Geese 4 I then drove to a field I had planned to shoot on near to another motorway and there were about 80 odd pigeons spread about. I set up along a hedgerow and I had a nice steady morning and had dropped 51 birds when the farmer turned up to plough the top 2 fields I had to move down to the bottom field and reset up my stall. There was a lull till about 2.00pm and I shot another 55 up till 5.30pm. Nice bag of 106 birds and a MAGPIE that thought he would sneak past. WRONG!!!!! Picked 47 on this field; the others had dropped overhead and were being mulched in by the plough. I then went back to the field where I had spotted the Geese earlier for a look-see. When I arrived there were 2 lads standing up on the hill with hmr's; ready for a bit of fox bashing. I got out to have a chat with them and about 15 minutes later the 1st skein flew over us. I ran back to my jeep and grabbed my gun and as I was loading up another skein approached out to my right. I quickly cut across the field and managed to drop one from the tail end. Just about to leave for another session. Don't you just love holidays. Dave K

Cranfield
Nice pics and report, as usual. I had a guest day with a friend in Surrey some years ago and we were set up right alongside the M25. The shooting was nothing to write home about, but I could still hear the traffic noise in my head the next day. It made me even more sorry for people who suffer with tinnitus. mudpatten
It`s always good to carry a handful of non toxic cartridges for just such opportunities. Nice to see you were prepared.
Topgunners
Nice write up and pictures Dave as always! What patterns, decoys and set up were you using out of interest? Regards Cos I use 20 half-shell flocked decoys. 2-3 floaters and my magnet. Laid out "U" style, "J" or "Y" or mixed about. Dead birds propped up on kebab sticks.
