il cacciatore
I've only tried one and thats the one I have; the Winchester mod 1200. Its pointable and the stock fits me well but I was wondering what other people think of other pump actions and what would they rate among the best? Baldrick
No question, it's the Remington 870 - tough, reliable and well made. I wish I hadn't sold mine.
crieffy
I've had a Winchester 1200, Remington 870 and a Mossberg 500. I thought the Winchester was the best one - very fast and slick to operate (was great for practical shotgun competition) The Remi was a close second, very well made but I didn't like the handling so much. The Mossberg was cheap, but a lot rougher to cycle and I didn't like the safety catch. John
bertie
Only one i've ever had was a savage, yes and it was! Fired straight though!

lurcherboy
The Nova is good and robust as its fully synthetic bar the steel. LB
il cacciatore
So mossbergs are cheap and nasty? People speak so highly of them (usually firearm dealers)
Baldrick
I had a Mossberg. I was so disappointed with it that I bought the Remington to replace it.
Lord Geordie
Mossberg and Benelli Nova LG
Baldrick
If I was going to buy another pump action, it would either be a Benelli Nova or a Remmie Wingmaster Express (with synthetic stock). You can't beat a pump action for wildfowling, or any other activity where you're in a fairly hostile, grubby environment (SW London). the last engineer
had the Savage myself for a long time, between that and the mossburg i thought they were the cats rear, got hold of a Model 12 Winney here, there is no other action like it , its the Glock of all pumps , works like a martini ANYWHERE ANYPLACE ANYTIME the alternate is the remi 870 a good workhorse, built like a diesel loose as a goose, no problem cycling anything you throw in it, Benneli another good workhorse synthetic is the way to go though. 1st model 12 2nd remi 870 3rd mossy 4th savage 5th benneli IMO there are others, but without experience i can give no honest rating. browningstalker10g
i dont know about a 'best gun', as a gun u may realy like may be one that someone else hates, its all personal preference but for me, i have 3 pumps and they are to me all excelent in there own ways, my fave of the 3 have to be benellis nova, as has been said its tough, reliable looks great and if like me u live somewere that even when 2 miles down the road is sunny, it is still raining the the fact its almost al synthetic is brilliant and its not so expensive that you worry about it every time u go out for a shoot, that being said i also have a remington 870 wingmaster witch is awesome and built tought, its a gun u can stick on ur quads gun rack go off for the day and itll always be there when u need it, and i also have a f.a.c 5+1 mossberg with a tactical folding sock and 24inch barrel witch is in the one-gun safe in my bedroom purely for home deffence should i ever need it, but but if i could only keep one it would be the nova as it feels like that pair of old comfy slippers that when u wear them everything seems just right
