Hi lrm. I have a freind waiting for reports on these Escort Semi Auto's as he is seriously thinking of purchasing one. Could you give me the Hatsan web site address, so i can have a look, I know its made in Turkey. We looked at a couple the other day over Witney, Oxon way . He said they had a 3 year warranty on a new one. This had a 3" chamber and a multi choke barrel and i think it was £360.00 new. Please keep us informed Paul Hart with what you think of this gun.

Many thanks Ears.

I shoot rough with a baikal MP153 which are about the same money, 3.5" mag and as everyone knows it is hard to break a baikal. The stock is not great ( short as in all baikals ) but I have shot clays and pigeons with it, got it covered in sh#t and still it keeps on going. It may be an idea to look at one of these before purchasing the escort, which does look good but may not last as long

Good shooting

I bought a HATSAN semi auto with the black plastic furniture last year. Excellent gun for the price. I paid £299 for it.He's now put the price up to about £340. I had to wait a few weeks for it because when I went to the shop, all the ones that had just been delivered in were already sold.

Not tried 28 grms throught it. I have only used 30 & 32's. Never had a problem with either load. The shooter comes with a set of chokes. IMO its a nice shotgun for the price. Its the first semiauto I have bought and I have been impressed with its performance and handling.( I'm still a **** shot though) Honest !!!

When I went to the gun shop I went to buy a pump action HATSAN. I was told the importer who brings then in from Turkey( whoever they are) have no plans to import pump action HATSAN shotguns. Pity really cos the gun shop have had alot of enquires about the pump action

Jono 357. I am lead to believe that Edgar Brothers are the importer. The reason i ask about the ozzy's is my freind will want to shoot some cpsa competitions with it every now and then, when the pigeons have left his neck of the woods from time to time. I think you made a wise move getting a semi and not a pump. And to improve your shooting standard all ya need is money and time. Hope ya get some of both.

Time & money ? If newseeker wins at Ascot last race tomorrow  :D??????

I really should try some clays now & again. I only into rough shooting. I got put off clay shooting a few years ago after my first amount at skeet. Mega difficult or what! I won't embarrass myself and tell you how many I hit. ?????????

Jono 357. Shooting skeet is a great place to start, There are two types, English skeet and ISU skeet ( the olympic disipline) Start with the English version if you shoot low scores, dont worry we all shot low scores when we started. Good thing is there is room for improvement. You will learn 360 deg of shooting angles better gun mounting and technique. better foot work. Go back and shoot some more, it will help your decoying no end. Station 4 double is quite trickey. but remeber one is better than none. i shot eng skeet for a solid 11 months every week until i shot my first 25 straight and i had been shooting quarry for about 3 years before i had a go. These days i cant even do that as i spend most of my weekend chasing pigeons to much and when i get on the skeet range, one or two always seem to keep getting away. Money and time will work, and i hope your horse comes in so ya can go back a few dozen times.

cheers ears

  • 2 weeks later...

Used the auto a couple of times and am very pleased with it. Its ofcourse very different to my browning o/u but was pleasantly suprised how it shot. I shot with a friend who after using my gun, said he preferred the Hatsan to his Beretta auto!

Will be using this mostly for wildfowling and it will take 3 inch Magnums, although not 3.5. No jams so far.

Hello all. I bought the Escort Magnum synthetic stock last week. Amazing £285.00 from Sporting Targets, Riseley, Bedfordshire. I also have the Lanber 30" O/U and wanted a cheap semi as a "back up" gun. All I can say is get one!!! I shot sporting with it and skeet and its a great gun for the money. 3year warranty, 5 chokes. Not jammed and recycles shells no problem. If you find one cheaper than £285.00 I'll be surprised. They do the cammo version for £50 more I think.

Escort value for money i would say 9 out of 10

Build quality is spot on i have had NO issues with my 3 and 1/2" mag version but it doesn't like 28G loads.

HOWEVER the standard 3" version (my friend has) and it handles the 28g loads fine.

On the older escorts the 3" version has an annoyingley short stock and you get your nose knocked with your thumb when you squeeze the trigger

On the 3 and 1/2" the stock is longer and the prob eleviated hence ME getting the 3 and 1/2"

NOW Hatsan say they have made a NEW escort with a modified stock called a TRI something or other and as it's name suggests it is capable of comming to bits to add spacers in the stock to extend it OR shorten it as needed (a nice addition to an already good gun)

3 year no quibble warranty steel proofed barrels synthetic stock so no wood to worry about not really much you can moan about for the money.

The only change I made was to sack the stock Chokes and buy a set of Baretta Mobil chokes instead as the stock chokes had a **** key and kept working loose after 5 shots or so

With the beretta chokes there was no issues and i am indeed a happy chappie

I bought one a couple of months ago in Camo ,£320, a good bit of kit for the money and i can't fault it.

the safety takes a bit of getting used to though, but thats only practice.

not had a jam yet and it will have had a couple of hundred cart's through it upto now (clear pigeon 30g ,6s)

I have put a few olympic gold 28grams through it as well with no problem.

good value for money imho.

Cheers Sutty :)
