  2. just spoke to the farmer on some permission i have to report some fly tipping, got chatting and the peas should have been taken off already but missed the boat with the rain and the rape the same, he said its going to be cut as soon as they can because the rain will affect the quality of the peas also asked if we can get on the fields and have a quote :'damn good go' at the pigeons - damn right we will ........ lots of walking with the dog over the next couple of days then to check when its all been done then a day or two of work me thinks like a kid before christmas
  3. i was thinking the same, tried to have a look but think you can opnly use the sillosocks on it and that puts me off a bit, dead birds are best would love to know if anyone has one though and if you can mount dead birds
  4. i thought the whole point of stainless steel fastners was to prevent issues with disimilar metals ?

  9. a week or two on the fields that i shoot over, am going for a full day on friday though on some wheat where numbers have been building up, probably a couple of hundred got off the field last night when i went for a walk round with the dog like has been said though its the calm before the storm, as far as work is concerend i will be having lots of 'meetings' in the afternoon soon !!!!!
  10. pigeons will ignore crops for no apparent reason and will no doubt be feeding elsewhere, i have some permission on peas which 2 weeks ago were getting hammered, last wekk or so barely a bird pigeons will feeds on peas at all stages wait until they start taking the crops off and you will have a better chance of decoying them onto the stubbles just dont shoot the fields too early, let the numbers get up a bit for a day or two if you want a decent bag be patient and observe the fields - LOTS - you will elarn a fair bit of their habits by doing that
  11. with no makers name, damaged stock, some pretty rustic engraving, sleeved etc i would say not very much at all. someone might give you £25 - £50 for it.
  12. probably about £175 - £225 i reckon
  13. i love mine, dont have a issue with recoil although the heaviest load ive fed it to date is 32g, it comes up very well and is a joy to shoot, i think i'll be hanging onto mine for a long time, cant wait for the pigeon shooting to start properly this year and really give it some work to do
  14. and therein lies the answer to the snap cap debate
  15. 8x4ft mine, timber to 3 sides mesh to the front, roof over all, 3x4ft kennel inside, insulated to keep cool in the summer and warm in the winter, floor of the kennel up on 2 inch bearers to keep off the ground with 18mm ply base and vet bed to keep the cold out.
  16. last time i had a stock lengthened i think it cost around £125. 3 inches is a lot to extend by and no matter how well its done it will always look like its been extended.

  20. i was out for a walk last night with the dog and could see a fox sat looking at us from about 250yds away down by the top of a railway line embankment, i sat down in the hedge with the dog and gave it a couple of squeeks, up it started to trot. got to within about 75 yds and then moved down wind and was trying to suss us out, it was a right mangey old thing didnt look in good condition at all, i started to squeek him again and low and behold he kept coming, i got him to within 35 yds he was staring straight at me and the dog not phased at all it would seem, he then stayed at about 35 yds and paced sideways before sloping back off across the field towards the railway line. this field backs onto a field i have permission on so time to get out with the .223 me thinks managed to catch it on my phone but no idea how it will come out on here, fingers crossed you should be able to see him centre picture in the vid.
