  1. It's a warrenty repair so no tax as thats already paid once. So i hope they dont try that one I have the tracking number for it and it cleared customs on the 1st February. Have mailed vortex so with luck something will happen soon.
  2. It was sent on 19th February from states so I thought it would have been here by now too
  3. Managed to get my hands on a Ruger precision rifle in 6.5 creedmoor, thanks to Dauntsey Guns, being black, and then same as ever other RPR I took it in to the workshop and to the spanners and cerakote to it. Every part striped and painter either in graphite black, armour black or burnt bronze mix. I didn't paint the top of the hand rail or the picatinny rail as I want the printing left on it. Once painted the engraving were then painted in orange, black or white just to brake it up a little. The DPT mod has the stainless first baffle that I have also painted to take the shine out of it but the mod is on balanced on as at the time I was waiting for the right screw thread end. Still playing about with loads and at ½moa at 200 so far but I want better. Weekend I had my first and only long shot on a dead crow that my friend had just nailed. The shot was 525 meters and the ELD-M didn't let me down. At said, first long shot and it was on the button. I'm well happy on the way the paint turned out and just thought I would share a photo or two. I know it's not everyone cuppa tea, a couple years ago it wasn't mine but tastes change I guess so went and bought. I can see me not keeping this and going with a custom build in 6mm creedmoor when the bank allows. Thanks for looking ATB Phil.
  4. Has anyone sent there vortex scope back for repair/replacement. If so, what was the postage time? Vortex, top company, can not fault them in anyway, bought a 223 and scope from someone, turned up to have knackered barrel end, knacker mod, and knackered scope, oh and rusting dies. Will not return an calls so lesson learnt and I will Street any else away from this sell if I see him selling. Anyway, back to it. Vortex have been great, after speaking to them they asked me to send scope back to them in the states, even though I was not the original purchaser, and the damaged had be cause with over tightening on scope rings, they said they would have a look at it. Within 24 hours of getting to them they had sorted the problem out and sent a replacement scope. First. Lass service. However. The tracking shows the parcel let them 19th Feb and was into UK costoms on 26th Feb and then cleared costoms then out for deliver on the 1st march. Nothing yet. Question is, how long have others waited for their parcel from vortex. Bought rifle January and still haven't been able to take it out.
  5. Its the job of the beat captain and shoot captain, or keeper and under-keeper to work out the drives and gun placements so that shot is not going to cause a problem. falling shot can't always be helped but as beaters do and need to get close to the guns at times, but this is falling shot, not directed shot.. I have always mad sure that all know the rule of no sky, no shot. no ground game at all, that includes squirrels. they can and should be dealt with at other times i dont and will not stand for anyone that does not think of others before they pull the trigger. if they are getting over excited then a word is needed in their shell. no second chance with a life and guns.
  6. My eldest son had poor results I'm his exams, went and had a feeling tests done an turned out he had mild form, with this years exams he had yellow test papers and 25% more time plus cogmed help. He now is in and A's and B's. He has worked since day one and couldn't work out why his tests were poor. Now he is happier and results speak for themelves. How much is the dislexia and how much is just in the head and he needed the help in planning the route though the exams we will never know. Me, well, I'm just lazy and stupid and have hands like leather as I stopped feeling the pain of the cane very quickly.
  7. just seen so will add this years total so far. 15 evenings 284 rats Total = 444
  8. Hay! Tim, What can't I say, you have done a fair it for me n the pastnd taken me shooting numerous times, I sort day or two on the pigs I least I can do to return the the favour. Just wish I could shoot like you as I miss to many with this spud gun
  9. That is gunner and his pratty 410. i was using a bakewell tart, moderator was a little short but made no difference in sound. using a mix of 7 and 6 shot of 18grams 3" and even subsonic cartridges, there really is little to no difference other than the price. think i might be saving the pennies to buy a double 20g just for the winter rape as i have no doubt, with a standard 12g there would have been 2 shots and then long waits between action. with the hush, it was as fast as you can stuff a cartridge in at times
  10. cheers buddy, If should have been a lot more but numb nuts here couldnt hit them. we should have been double the number.lol
  11. Nice couple of hours yesterday with a good friend. Both using 401, single shot hushpowers. only one shooting at a time. wind and down pours made for a muddy day with very tricky birds for a 12g with 2 shots but a 410 single shot, well, let's just say my friend is a better shot that i. 45 birds down but not all picked up as lost in hedges. Cheers Gunner for the company and giggles, well worth the soaking and mud ATB Phil
  12. This is and old post and we are still waitng for the frozen rabbits heart/chest
  13. climbin the loft and look of off cuts or bits hanging down.
  14. i regularly shoot rabbits, head shots, at 100 meters. you just need time in saddle and know your gun/ammo combo. 100 meters on mine, zeroed at 50mters, is 7" drop. 10mph cross wind is 3" so 16x mag with sbc reticle if 2.5 mildot drop and 1/2 wind. bear in mind i have mapped, in the field, out to 400meters but its a tiny target as have to use 5x mag and use the mark at very bottom of mill post. no i don't shoot live past 100. to far to walk and to long to make calculations if it runs of injured.
  15. I shoot of sticks at 4" gong with Winchester sub's at 200 meters on the windy range in south wales. Is that any use as for 100 meters its and easy 1/2" hole is on the bench
  16. Colin, don't get eaten up buddy.
  17. Factory come with 14x1mm on the lite and 18x1mm on the varmint. Older models are common with 1/2-20 unf
  18. Cheers for that. A little to big, they need to be 8-10mm long
  19. i take that back, just come back from HPS in newent and its sinking. are they being thinned in that area. I dont need boats, i have size 15 boots capin
  20. I also blame the badge for all the flooding. they eat all the earthworms and the earth now has less holes and tunnels so the water can't drain off. Gloucestershire use to really flood bad this time of year, so far, this year its not 3/5th better.
  21. google cant even get their phones working right, and they have been around a very long time. so hows this gimmick going to be any different
  22. I have made my scope level. Bit of oak and time saved me money. All for home brew and saving
