  1. Merry Christmas PC. Thanks for your great write ups of you pigeon shooting this year. They are much appreciated. Top man.
  2. Thanks muncher. With a bit more practice I might get as good as you and motty.
  3. Thanks. He loves pigeon shooting as much as me.
  4. Thanks Big Al. I wish I had the duck shooting near me that you have on your doorstep. I was using the usual full choke.
  5. Your right . I think I will put a hide up next time.
  6. Thanks . Hopefully this flightline should last till the spring. Wont be any big numbers but it should be testing shooting .
  7. As clean as it can be when your stood in the middle of a pile of **** ditchy. 👍
  8. Thanks JDog. That means a lot coming from you Yes I quite liked it. I might have to try a few 80 yard shots with it. Only joking.
  9. A few shots at pigeons on the way back from feeding on a osr crop. I was using some of the copper coated shot for the first time as well.
  10. Well done Clodhopper and JDog. Nice to see that your getting a few.
  11. Thanks. Simple answer is I don't really know. The only conscious thing I do is focus on the pigeon and the lead takes care of itself. If I look at the gap or the barrels it will result in me stopping the gun and missing behind. I also think the line is more difficult to read with pigeons. They rarely fly dead straight. You do have more time though as they are not that fast unless they have a good breeze behind them.
  12. Many thanks rbrowning2. Just as I suspected he was just having a bad day. It happens .
  13. They were stored next too a radiator apparently. Its 32g of number 4 shot in a 67 mm case. And you are correct .
  14. I was out shooting pheasants yesterday and one of the other guns was complaining about his cartridges. He said they were not working right. Hmmm I thought so I took a few off him . I dissected one this morning and the powder was solid. Does anyone know if this would affect the performance? It was one solid lump till I separated it.
  15. Thanks. Too be honest I've not been shooting at my best the last 12 months. I made a slight change to my gun last week, it feels better. Time will tell.
  16. Only shot 6. The first one was worth going out in the rain on it's own.
  17. I went to check some of our osr for flea beetle and slug damage, very little of either but I was surprised to see about 150 pigeons munching away. So I decided to go and get my shotgun and try and shoot a few on a flghtline to it. I didn't shoot very well to start with but got a bit better as I got my eye in. Only shot 20 including 3 crows and 2 magpies, but a enjoyable couple of hours anyway.
  18. Cracking dog. It has the expression on its face of "how did you miss that one". It must be a perfectionist spaniel.
  19. Nothing wrong with that ratio on flightline pigeons .It shows that you were tested and that is better than shooting a 80% ratio over decoys any day. Great sport , well shot.
  20. A short session yesterday afternoon. Shot 23 pigeons and 2 jackdaws.
  21. My usual flightlines didn't materialise last year for some unknown reason . I might try and do a roost shooting video on Saturday.
  22. We grew winter linseed about 15 years ago. We were told that pigeons don't eat it. They did. Had a few days shooting over it.Probably depends on what else is available for the pigeons to eat though.
  23. Agree and don't forget you are going to eat the pheasant after its eats the treated wheat as well. Not for me.
