  1. The total bag was 313 pheasants. The total shots was 1823. Shots on this drive was 543 for 76 pheasants. There were 10 guns shooting. Duffryn i think you would be fine on these pheasants .Iv'e seen you shoot some spectacular ones on your videos.
  2. Llechweddygarth 14th December Only managed to video the last drive. The camera work is not the best. Duffyn you need to get down to one of these shoots with you camera set up, to do them justice.
  3. Thanks i am a Llechweddygarth on Saturday .I might take the camera . Ochr and Grai's mountain should be fun, if we do them.
  4. On the first drive i would estimate most of the pheasants were about 40 to 70 yards. The second drive most were at 60 yards some were higher .A few over 100 yards. It was a very still day and that is recipe for very high pheasants on this drive. If there is some wind they tend to fly a bit lower. The last drive i filmed there were at varying heights ranging from 30 to 60 yards i would estimate. I think the pheasants slide around a lot at that height, very difficult to keep on the right line.Which means its hard to keep the center of the pattern on the pheasant. There were two more drives i didn't film and they were more shootable at around 40 yards for the majority of the pheasants. The equipment we used were miroku mk38 32 inch, full choke both barrels. Cartridges 35gram 4s (rc orio fibre wad 3.1 mm pellet)
  5. Its a fair comment JDog. In defence I would say on the first drive the beaters had not even reached the game crop when the pheasants decided to decamp on mass. On the subject of out of range pheasants, yes there were some on the second drive (the glog) there always will be some on a very high pheasant drive. But it is up to the guns to choose the pheasants they think are in range. (not always going for the highest, like most normal shoots.)You will get pricked birds on every shoot, all you can do is insure they are dealt with as swiftly as possible which they are at this shoot. The dog that was whinning belonged to one of the guns , a terrier. what it was doing there i dont know.It does annoy when watching the video but i didnt notice it when i was there. As for the shouting and whooping when one of the guns they managed a shot to remember for the rest of their lives. They got excited thats all i can say.
  6. It was unreal i thought after that first flush the drive would be empty. It went on for forty minutes.
  7. 6.5 to 1. A tad over 2000 shots for 312 pheasants . 10 guns shooting but they had fun.
  8. I bought a pair last week . Had chameau's before that and they split at the back after about 4/5 years. The forester are a little bit heavier but seem well made. Also i would say slightly tighter fit than the chameau's i could of done with half a size bigger than my normal . I need to do a season shooting/beating before i no how good they really are though. btw uttings were about the cheapest place i found.
  9. I think any cartridge will do the job out to 40 yards. Its the 40 to 60 yard shots that need something a little bit special. rc oro 35g 4s or fob super 36g 4 for the high stuff .
  10. Both are good wellies.Ive had both in the last 10 years and le chameau are the most comfortable to my feet anyway.
  11. Its the drift hd170 head cam.It comes with a little remote that you press when you want it to start/stop recording and thats the beep you can hear. I ended up with 52 in 3 hours, battery ran out after the first hour (forgot to charge it before i went) .
  12. After last nights rain put a stop to the harvest for a while,i decided to go and shoot a few rooks this morning .. Then it started raining again .

  14. Think its beans .Probably wont get any pigeons on till just before harvest when they go black and a few start to fall out the pods. After harvest there will be a lot on the ground and the pigeons will go mad for them. You just have to hope the farmer doesent plough them in to soon.
  15. not this sunday. 1st and 3rd sunday of the month.Kingsley moor is on 2nd and 4th sunday if that helps
  16. Never heard of getting air into the crop.We cut a couple of times round our first wheat field yesterday and stopped because its not quite ready. There is a lot of secondry growth this year which could mean a later than usual start for some.
  17. Seen about 50 to 60 on our barley at the moment. There has been alot more on the clover and chickweed in some of our grass fields. They can be difficult to spot as you drive past, so if you have some grass fields on your permission take a closer look especially in the afternoon you might be surprised.
  18. Browning 325.Owned from new. 20 years old.One broken ejector screw £5 to replace.Had it serviced once and got it tightend up a bit. (it started to open slightly when top barrel fired).Needs barrels re bluing really now to smarten it up.Approx 80-100 thousand shots fired.Used for clays, pigeon, pheasants, ducks.etc
  19. The basc gamekeepers fair used to be at shugborough but moved to catton.Someone decided to start another fair at shugborough but it is a small affair and has not grown at all since it was started .Probably to early in the year really .It was the home of the late Lord Lichfield and was often seen at the event.
