In Hertfordshire at a place called Cupid Green a dairy farmer built a clay layout on his farm. It was all shot over the fields where his cattle grazed and it was let out to different groups and clubs. We rented it one Sunday a month but it got a lot of use over many many years from all the clubs that booked it. The milk marketing board was always aware of the shooting and used to do extra monitoring of the farm's milk for lead They never found an elevated trace of lead in the milk.

It's extremely interesting that these proposals are coming from the Health and Safety executive. Their remit covers health and safety in the workplace. It doesn't cover the Environment or Food Standards. Both of which are separate Agencies. Very strange, what's it to them?

I belong to several clubs and the average age is over 50. well over in some instances. More significantly in some ways, all the committee members are getting on. Mostly because there is nobody willing to take over from them

I think Clangerman means rough shooters rather than game shooters. The sort of people who go out to put food on the table

There was a man on BBC who seemed to know what he was talking about. He explained very well how crypto currencies worked (or rather how they don't work) Its basically flim flam, but as long as enough people still believe the flim flam it works. Thats always been the case in the past with consultation periods prior enforcement. The thing is, and we should remember this, no Act of Parliament has approved this. Its just Civil Servants making it up as they go along.

Finland did I'm told for hunting but are now reversing it. I would not mind paying £3 a round to shoot a deer a couple of times a year like they do but 50 rounds a week on the range is a different story Apart from the cost, neither can I , its the reduction in the number of shooters / how often they shoot / how many clays they shoot per visit that will have an impact on the profitability of the shooting grounds

How will these elite shooters become elite shooters? they have to evolve through the various levels of the sport to get to be olympic standard.

But will your clay club be able to survive when faced with a significant reduction in the number of people coming to shoot?

This isnt just down to BASC what about CPSA? have they said anything? what about NRA? have they said anything? what about NSRA? have they said anything? what about MLAGB? have they said anything? these proposals will bankrupt every gun shop in the country, virtually every club and clay ground. When they banned handguns about half the gun shops in London area folded. They could still sell shotguns and rifles but their takings went down and they couldn't survive on the reduced turnover j

Its the after effects of a bomb and our ability not to survive the consequences that presents the real danger we are so desperately dependant on food to be delivered to our shops every day
