  1. Plus polluted water supplies, no phones, no ATMs, power outs, no foot getting delivered to supermakets. it would all go down like a row of dominoes. According to the perceived wisdom. People would be resorting to cannibalism within a week. The UK society is so fragile it is more than scary
  2. The economic impact will kill what is already an extremely fragile industry. Already hanging on by the thinnest profit magins imaginable Why outdoor target shooting? range regulations already require de leading on a regular basis What about muzzle loader? does a 200 year old rifle fired perhaps twenty times a year in some historical competition represent a threat to the environment???? EXemption for Muzzle loaders absolutely essencial
  3. In actual fact the figure are much lower than that. Way way lower. The global economy is more fragile than a soap bubble. Think in terms of the three meals rule. As big as it and as vast the distances involved, a single strike on New York would eventually, not immediately, shut down the entire banking system in USA. All money goes through New York one way or another electronically People would not be able to buy food . fill up their cars, access their savings . Cities would cease to function, millions would have no where to get money. The internet and phone systems would fold too. This is the reason that so many Americans have been stockpiling guns and ammo. What ever you think of them they have seen the writing on the wall.
  4. Where ever he is he would be somewhere bomb proof and assassination proof. He is almost certainly the richest man in the world. By several times over more than Elon Musk who is second. according to the people who know about these things. The amount of money he and his cronies have embezzled from Russia is eye watering. Yet he lives like a rat in a concrete bunker, behind steel doors. Afraid of everybody. What life is that? He could have used that money to create a lasting legacy in Russia and be regarded as a saint There is a bit of a comparison with the pirates of the Caribbean back in the day. They attacked Spanish galleons loaded with gold, and ended up sailing round with their ships loaded with treasure worth a fortune but no way of spending it. Afraid to put into any of the recognised ports they ended up living a pointless existence but rich beyond their wildest dreams.
  5. We think Trump is a joke but there are a large number of people in America who believe he is some sort of saviour. Now that really is scary. and dangerous
  6. Honda main agents are usually pretty helpful
  7. Germany has much stricter laws than the UK on replacement car parts. They have to be parts that the car manufacturer has used themselves. Either in manufacture or servicing I have used this outfit for years and never had a problem They are recommended by the Mercedes owners club which is where I first found them. Parts usually take a week
  8. A good rifle, for that money its a bargain. Shame its so far away.
  9. I'm not so sure, he must have realised by now that he is flogging a dead horse. He certainly hasn't appeared very enthusiastic for a long time. resigning on a point of principle gives him a neat way out with his reputation intact. A bit of an opportunity you might think?
  10. That process takes a long time and in the past has thrown up some bizarre choices, the wrong Miliband, Jeremy Corbyn for two. But realistically, who are the choices? I can't think of anyone in the Parliamentary Labour Party that inspires confidence in their ability? Starmer was 'least bad' rather than best for the job
  11. You have got to realise that if Starmer goes Angela Rayner as Deputy Leader will take over? She, as a previous supporter of Corbyn, will restore the party Whip to him. The dream team. A single mum off a Council Estate without an O level to her name in charge of the Labour Party and Corbyn and Abbott causing all sorts of trouble. Game, set and match to Boris And Starmer walks away, probably glad to be out of it all, because he knows he is on a hiding to nothing with the misfits he has under him and this is an honourable way out.
  12. My ex sister in law works in the film industry. Many years ago in Lost Angeles a couple of her work colleagues were asking her if she had to get water from a well and do we have electricity in England. they so think they are the centre of the universe but their knowledge of world politics is worrying.
  13. Russia and America are not as different as you might think. Both really push their National identity. Every kid in America has to salute the flag and sing the National Anthem every day. In both cases because of the sheer size and relative isolation, news is selectively omitted and controlled. I can absolutely gurantee to you that the average american does not know that Russia even took part in WW2 much less that they won it for the allies through huge sacrifice
  14. They are not that expensive to buy, the problem with these sort of cars is that they depreciate like mad because everyone knows that once they are past the first few years old any repairs will be eye watering.
  15. What he said, having to drive to the shop, lug them to the car drive back, lug them indoors.
  16. To be honest Its probably worth paying a bit more at the club to avoid the hassle. It would be a good idea to check out the prices
  17. When you look at mattresses like Dormeo you have to wonder how much of the price goes to cover the cost of all that TV advertising
  18. He's one of those people you are not supposed to like
  19. Gorbichov did it as soon as he got into power, it was part of his election pledge . He also introduced Glasnost and Perisroika. (freedom of information and freedom of the press) Gorbichov was a great politician and moderniser but everything he achieved has been reversed (and more) by Putin
  20. If Starmer hadn't said what he has said he would not look like a right idiot right now. And Angela Raynor a liar. The Tories for the record haven't said a word on the matter so I don't know where you get your information from that they are making a fuss. The heavy criticism of Starmer seems to come from Abbott, Corbyn and their followers. A bit of sour grapes I think?. Oh and it was beer and curry just to be accurate
  21. To be fair thats not the job of the attorney general . The attorney general primarily advises the government of the day on points of law, not who to prosecute. That is the job of the crown prosecution service. The CPS is supposed to be independent of both police and government. However, he also acts as a regulator for the CPS and the courts and can ask them to review their decisions but not order them to change them.
  22. Yes i've noticed that too
  23. Of that, I am certain. Most people don't see that yet, its still a distant war in a far off land to them
  24. I must admit the thought enters my head more often these days.
