I'm sorry but I don't agree with you. Labour dont stand up for people they just say that they do. After all, Labour needs the country to have a poor and disadvantaged underclass. Otherwise who would vote for them? So they tell people they are going to solve all their problems but never actually do. Labour would be shooting themselves in the foot to create a society without problems or conflicts Same as the unions. How many industries have they closed down over the years claiming to be defending the workers?

Apparently that's always been the case for benefits. My cousin and her husband both worked all their working life for DHSS (as it was then) on Merseyside. They were not allowed to cast doubt on, or say they didn't believe anything a claimant told them no matter how ridiculous it sounded. So basically anybody could walk in, spin a load of old cobblers and walk out with the money even though nobody believed a word they had said. And on Merseyside there were a lot of people doing just that back then. I believe its been tightened up a lot since those days

I actually doubt that, a lot have become dependent on benefits but that's not really the same as genuine need

The real problem in my opinion has been that Labour has always spent or given away in handouts huge amounts public money. This to hide or cover up problems rather than solve them.

Things have always got worse under a labour government. Ever since the first Labour government in 1924 after the end of WW1 they have never left the country in a better state than they found it.
  8. It seems likely that the real problem lies within the Home Office. Basically it is not fit for purpose, actively ignoring or sabotaging directives in the past for what ever reason. Arrogance? Political sabotage? The person who told me actually said they have been infiltrated. Far fetched as that may sound it may be true.
  9. We often used to shoot alongside the police at Bisley and the general standard of gun discipline was poor.
  10. They are only sending them to Rwanda for processing. And it will be cheaper than putting them in hotels here from which they can abscond The real problem is that without paperwork its very hard to send them back to their home countries so we let them stay anyway. When Israel started sending their illegals to another country for processing the number of people arriving without paperwork dropped dramatically
  11. What percentage do you think are genuine refugees?
  12. Let's not keep calling them refugees. Call them what they are, illegal immigrants. Sort the wheat from the chaff and deport the rest. The problem we have at the moment is getting rid of the ones that are rejected..
  13. I'm glad you used turnip, top marks for authenticity 👍
  14. Now there is a funny thing! We paid for more patrolling of the French beaches. They are doing that, nobody mentioned stopping the migrant boats according to the mayor of Calais
  15. Actually I dont give a f-f-fig. Most of the population round here in North London totally ignored lockdown, wearing masks etc. I saw it every day Shopping every week with people not wearing masks, riding on the bus with only me and a couple grannies wearing masks. Riding on the underground , no masks People in the flat below mine in London, visitors every weekend when we were supposed be locked down My inlaws had 13 for Christmas dinner while we spent it on our own in 2020 Air BnBs in Cornwall operating openly throughout lockdown People are selfish animals, They think only about about themselves
  16. No it isn't that simple, we have to have petrol that is compatible with cars from the rest of Europe
  17. Technically being issued with a fixed penalty notice is not defined as having broken the law. Thats because its issued by the police and the police dont have the right to decide whether he is guilty or not. However, by paying it he will have accepted his guilt.
  18. How is it anything to do with this government? the E in E10 stands for European. Its a EU directive to cut emissions. So you can thank Brussels for that As for the price, its a world issue
  19. Thats just the politics of envy . We need Sunak a lot more than he needs us. Because the truth is he doesn't need us at all. He could walk away and never look back but we sure as hell need him. Whats so wrong with getting almost for free the services of an Oxford Educated multi millionaire Chancellor? Because believe me he doesnt need the money we pay him? Or would you rather have an unqualified single mother from a Council Estate Angela Raynor??? Good luck with that choice but count me out

    P&O

"driving" a cross channel ferry is probably one of the most demanding maritime jobs in the world. 1) you have to zig zag across to avoid the wrecks. 2) you have to cross the busiest shipping lane in the world, docking at both ends is complex and you have to do it day and night in all weathers 3) You have an unsecured load of cars and trucks, most of which have full tanks. The crew have to be all trained firefighters with a huge list of written procedures to follow because every so often a car does just go up. Fire doors etc 4) Evacuation procedures. Complex and have to be rehearsed regularly and documented as having taken place 5) food catering etc Staff need to be trained in all aspects of safe and legal food handling requirements. Most food served to the public is pre prepared cook/chill The idea that you can just put a scratch crew of random Columbians onto one of these ferries with no experience of the channel is beyond stupid its unbelievable
  21. I was getting much better fuel consumption than that out of my 5.5 litre V8 Merc and i did floor it coming out of roundabouts. Land Rovers have always been poor on fuel consumption
  22. definitely, i do a lot of motorway driving but i don't hang about. Its amazing how much the fuel consumption improves in the 50mph section of the M4.
  23. My 2.0l CRV is currently showing 38.6 mpg
  24. LePen has borrowed money off Putin to fund her election campaign. Its not a secret, nobody else would finance her A Russian bank gave Marine Le Pen’s party a loan. Then weird things began happening. - The Washington Post
