slowly does it-every time-halving your pace doubles your chance of succes.Stay calm once you are sure that you can kill at the range you are shooting from-forget that its a rabbit and treat its head as a golf ball -once the shot is off practice freezing until the shot strikes home-good luck.

A sparrowhawk for sure-but they dont tend to pick on birds as big as pigeons usually-great photos.

I really feel for you ,Rob, the worry of going thru any major change is bad enough let alone when you have no control over it.I realise that its hard to find a positive side to some situations but they do sometimes occur.Have you considered a complete career change?-you might be surprised at what you could enjoy doing if, say, you had no choice.I wont bore you with too many details of my situation but after 25 years as an engineer i found myself in your shoes and eventually took a job as a school caretaker-now i wish i had done it years ago.Try relaxing during your time off and take a good look around you-there is usually plenty of support agencies that can help you-try them all as its what they get paid for.If you think of this as the start of something potentially life changing (for the better i hope) then it perhaps wont seem so bad.The very best of luck to you and enjoy your time to yourself-bruno.

Ive got an old screwdriver but its a pozi-drive-would that be best for continental pigeons or would it work over here?(would the bird be officially dead or just screwed?)

I worked at a vehicle dismantlers yard about 6 years ago-a lot of the lads bought written off cars and got the bits trade and sold them on-some cars (tends to be the more common ones) are written off for stupid reasons and its normally the cost of parts that make them a write off and not any structural damage-BMW headlights can run at £450 each-so a light frontal on a 5 year old car if the airbags inflate would be borderline .Some of the most stupid i came across involved cars that had been in water-once the water level exceeds the axle the car is a write off!!!!!!!!!! I think everyone should do a stint in these places-you will soon realise that cars have very little value once damaged-i wouldnt hesitate in buying one-ok so you lose when you sell but then you pay a pittance for it in the first place.

I normally sell mine to local pub/restuarants at £1. each gutted-demand by far out strips supply-i seem to recall a butcher in Stoney Stratford (nr,M.K.) putting out an appeal on local radio for rabbits last year as demand was so high!

My lad is 9 and at a school where bullying was quite a big problem awhile back.A group of 3-4 lads were making life a misery for months on end by picking on weaker boys and some of the girls that cried easily.Several parents had reported repeated episode and even written to the board of governers but were fobbed off in one way or another because it does a schools reputation no good if the staff admit to any bullying problems. After 2 parents removed their kids (and sent them to a school with a poorer performance record) i was finally convinced that as my lad is big for his age (and yes he weight trains-i dont encourage him-he just likes doing it)-he might "have a word" with the lads in question (bearing in mind that some are 2 years his senior).Of the 4 that he had a quiet word with only one needed any form of physical persuasion-the others just quit.I have been amazed at the gratitude shown by some parents (and i swear as god is my witness -the headmaster) regarding the outcome of these events-for all the talking and messing around with the "playground buddy" type schemes-all that was needed was one bloody nose.I might as well admit that while i was at school i was a pussy-so he doesnt get it from me.

Im not a scientist, never tried to be , but most of the rabbits that i shot last night indicated that lead had played a major part in their downfall.

Air Arms s200 -cheap as chips-more accurate than i will ever be and soooo easy to tune.I cant help but think that since i started shooting airguns 30 years ago Air Arms have been the driving force behind bringing technology and quality at a reasonable price back into british airguns - well done guys.

I seem to remember that for best results you need to screw the adjusters all the way one way and then count the turns until it stops the other-then set the scope half way-the mounts (check that they are the same height) should then be shimmed to bring the scopes impact to average centre.

Ive been waiting bloody weeks for a quality gun like this to come up at a bargain price-spent all my money yesterday on a gun i didnt really want !!!!-sod it im taking up knitting the way my lucks going.
-
Did it come with one piece mounts?-if you need some dont forget to buy the models with the arrestor pin.
-
Ive always found that a side on shot into the shoulder does the job with a .177 at reasonable ranges-never tried it with a .22 airgun-it might be a trade off between a shorter range and less misses?

Gun arrived tuesday-son loves it to bits-you have been superb to deal with florida1-one of lifes nice guys!!!!!!!!!

Isuppose in the spirit of this forum i owe mr Grunt an apology-im in no position to judge other people i suppose-sorry bud-sometimes the old red mist comes down.
-
Oh and while im having a go-vermin control business?-dont you realise you need Health and Safety qualifications plus a gut load of training not to mention insurance-its not just a case of kicking feral pigeons to death in your local park-give me strength.

I used to be a precision engineer-hated every day of it but what were the choices with a mortgage and 3 kids to deal with.People like grunt make me sick -all you do is leach off the workers and lay in bed all day bitching that life isnt fair-why not pop along to night school and practice your english for a start-i would be worried if my 6 year olds spelling was as bad as yours-despite suffering renal failure i was working 52 hours a week until i collapsed and spent 5 months in hospital-following a double transplant i now have 3 jobs that pay a pittance but i would rather die doing this than "live" like you do.
