  1. Isn't life funny (sometimes) in what it throws up...just this morning whilst being involved in this thread I've received a recall notice form Nissan about the alloy wheels on my truck!
  2. If you don’t mind having a ‘minder’ who’ll stand with you pen and paper in hand marking down each bird ‘shot’! You’ll pay for every bird they say you hit, picked or not! They’re not all like that but caveat emptor. Europe isn’t big on driven bird shooting and many Europeans do not have the same attitude to game shooting as we do but some of the best pheasant shooting can be had in the old eastern bloc countries, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Romania etc but although at around £10 per bird it might sound cheap you can easily shoot (and be expected to) 100 birds per drive to your own gun! 2 days can cost you serious money! IMO SA offers some of the best gamebird shooting at the best prices. Not strictly driven but great ‘rough’ sport and plenty of variety. Quail are my favorite! The bonus is same time zone and they speak English! Personally I say why go abroad to shoot what the UK can do better than most. If you go abroad to shoot do something different like Ptarmigan chasing in Finland or Capers in Sweden.
  3. Which bit don't you agree with? Kill it or let it go? I'll leave you to think about what I'd do!
  4. Firstly TURN YOUR CAPS LOCK OFF! As I said...has the stud been proven before?
  5. Modern wheats are generallly grown on short stems, it doesn't affect the yields. On the other hand given the dry weather many areas are experiencing yields are bound to be well down this year. On the plus side prices are going to be higher than ever unless the rest of the world harvest comes in over par. OK if you're just arable but if you have livestock of any sort feed costs are going through the roof.

Yes some good info there for you...just a shame Dekers managed to duck out of answering '(soon to be simply Defra again I understand)' Unless he's privvy to some government info the rest of us are too low down the pecking order to be told he's talking out of his backside...yet again!
  7. and you'll be passing on this info to any prospective buyers no doubt! Caveat Emptor still the best bet especially when buying vehicles and don't think you're safe buying from a main dealer either. Many years ago I bought a Disco from Lex Mead in Maidenhead that was their demo vehicle. Vehicle was 3 months old with hardly any mileage on the clock (?) Had 29k on the clock when the timing chain failed (on the Forth Bridge) and cost me £700 for the ride home. Bear in mind in the LR manual the timing chain shouldn't even need looking at until 50/60K. Went in for repairs and garage (not LM) noted the engine number wasn't the one on the log book  Contact Lex Mead and they say the original engine was blown up by an employee so they stuck in a recon model  I contacted solicitor and the AAs legal eagles but apparently LM had done nothing illegal and I had no case. Ts were totally useless. Apart from taking out an expensive civil action against LM nothing I could do. My revenge...(slight) but I PXd the vehicle with another LM garage!
  8. I think the sheep outnumber the people and in many cases are better looking! :yp: Does he have any Welsh blood?
  9. Deaf, DUMB, Blind or just plain stoopid it seems to be all the same (for some) on here! :yp:
  10. Surely that water gets filtered BEFORE being piped into the main water supply! Media Hype gone barmy, yet again!
  11. Some situations might be legal in the strict sense but 'common sense' must always play it's part!

Not to worry, I don't think Dekers knows what he's talking about! :yp:
  13. Those plastic ones look fine for chickens albeit a bit pricey but I think any sizeable dog would break out of it in no time. Also it’s got no access for YOU unless you want to crawl around in doggy do! Get a proper job, the duchy ones look OK. Forget about security as nothing will stop a determined thief, just don’t make it easy.
  14. Is the male a proven stud? Is the bitch ready, just because she's in 'season' doesn't mean she's totally receptive, maybe too early/late. We had the same thing with pair of ESS and after two attempts at different seasons we sold the bitch as sometimes no matter what they will not breed. We've had the same thing with a Patterdale bitch and sold her. In both instances the males were/are proven studs.
  15. Either kill it or let it go…cruelty to animals should not be something we condone. It’s a wild creature that's been born and raised in the wild, caging it for any length of time will send it off it’s mind! You've only got to watch call birds in Larsen Traps to see the classic symptoms. Like some zoo animals! Yes they can be tamed/domesticated as captive birds (even taught to mimic your speech)but from a young age.
  16. Wicker Man springs to mind! I reckon your current boss (head keeper) wants rid!
  17. And I assume you let him have the dogs papers etc. Sorry but you’re too trusting. Put it down to experience and don’t be so stoopid next time!
  18. It would seem PW is not the only place that attracts those genitically challenged! Lindisfarne Besides if you did do that we'd have no fun on here and those mass debates we all enjoy would be a thing of the past! :yp:
  19. Shame when you have to explain youself! For the OP. Best go ask farmer when he's going to be cutting it. If you turn up on the day you're likely to get some good bunny shooting and maybe a fox or two! After that it'll be pigeons all the way!
  20. I’d say item 2 http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item53dfc8d228 is the better kennel, well made (by the look of it) well thought out design, door offset which is good and also the two compartments. It’s about the right size overall with a sensible size doorway. Unlike item 1 which is too large to fit in most standard 1 metre wide runs and doesn't meeet any other criteria. Ok it cost £80 plus delivery but ask yourself (assuming you’re a capable DIYer) what the materials will cost and the time it’s gonna take to build and IMO its value for money. AND this one is available for immediate delivery! In fact I might even buy one myself to try out!
  21. Well said that man. It’s a recognized fact but one the likes of RSPB do not want to recognize, land managed for shooting carries a greater amount of wildlife than land not used for shooting. Mike is wrong to say that RSPB are not anti shooting when their own CEO openly admits they wish it stopped. There’s also the fact that land used for shooting is paid for by shooting people (some of whom are those upper class twits FM was on about) and not supported by government as in the case of NE/EA or scammed by so called charities like RSPB. There’s also the disturbance factor, our local bird reserve at Minsmere, is so busy with twitchers and tourists I doubt any wildlife there is particularly happy. Given that much of it strays onto our shooting grounds I wonder where they’d rather be! Give me a countryman and shooter any day over a twitcher and I'll show you someone who cares about wildlife!
  22. Please please whatever you do if it's any of the above FILM IT...it'll no doubt make the annual 'Gene Pool' awards! Seriously, get some of that spray foamy stuff, wait until near dark (when all the little boogers have returned to the nest) and cover it in the stuff. End of. Talking of Gene Pool Awards there was one some years back where two guys (only in America of course) put a stick of dynamite in a hornets nest and stood indoors watching for the bang. They had to be hospitalised when the dynamite went off and blew out the window they were looking through. Classic!
  23. Oh lordie another celeb trying to foist their **** opinions on the rest of us. Every meat eating fan (hopefully not too many of them) should boycott his performances. Same at that scouse *** Sir Paul McCartney! Human beings are hunter gatherers, it's in our genes! Eat meat if you want to grow up big and strong. Eat grass if you want to be eaten!
