  1. I've always borrowed / hired when I've been out before but this next visit I really fancy shooting my own gun since there are quite a few clubs I'd like to try which don't hire out. I've been doing loads of reading and apparently it appears quite easy to take a gun into the US if you have either a State hunting licence (which anyone can get) or an invite to a recognised competition. This site seems to offer a wealth of information on the process as does the ATF site in general. Once I get a bit closer to the time I'll put in for the relevant authorisation and let you all know how I get on. If I can't get the approval I'll have to get the in laws to add a shotty to the Glock 21 they already have for me
  2. Thanks for that. I'm planning on taking my gun to the US for a bit of shooting just wanted to see if it would be up to the task.
  3. Just wondering if you can put slugs through a 525? I'm guessing if I do I'll want cylinder chokes rather than full.
  4. Errrr I turned up a day late for a flight. I did have an excuse though, I was having such a great time on holiday that I forgot I had to go home until an hour after the flight had landed....
  5. Funny, did some yesterday too they're pretty soft on a few trees here. Didn't have any good Gin in so used abottle of vodka for the first batch. I used loads more suger though c700g to 700g Sloes. I've been shaking the bottle, the sugar's nearly disolved and it looks like Ribena. I'm guessing with so much sugar it'll be more liquer like. Also got another 2kg of sloes waiting to be pricked later once I've got the Gin.
  6. If my new gun was restricted to three shots would I be okay turning up with this or are people going to get a bit funny?
  7. Got a Gaggia Coffee Deluxe and like either Lavazza or illy if I can't get to a Whitards and grab a bag of Guatemala Elephant beans
  8. I've just finished reading thisone too and I'd say it's way up there as one of the most gripping reads in a long while. You might want to try "The Junior Officers' Reading Club" by Patrick Hennessey, another good read.
  9. Got to be Macallan for a proper whisky and Jack Daniels for a night out.
  10. Da'Bomb.............. tried it in New Orleans years ago much to the amusment of the market stall owner. I stupidly asked for the hotest sauce she sold and was directed to Da' BOMB. I love obscenely hot food, but that was on another level of pain! Got to agree that La'Hind is really good too, had a couple of good feasts there
  11. That's good to know. You'd have thought that the RFD might have mentioned that wouldn't you especially since none of the guns fitted me in any way
  12. Had a play with a couple of semi autos today and noticed they all felt very shot in the LOP. I really liked the look and feel of the Browning Maxus, but when mounted the back of my thumb was touching my cheek. Also found the same with an SX3 and a Benelli. Are semi autos meant for short a*ses? Are there any out there suitable for us taller types?
  13. A friend of the boss is scared of balloons, but then again she is mental.
  14. Had a session with these today, 100 clays 50/50 mix of Modena and Olympics. I'd say they where pretty much on a par with Olympics but with a tad more recoil, or may be that was me wanting to feel a difference? Don't know how fast they are but they seemed up there wit the same amount of lead doing the trick. Scores on the doors, I had a usual round of hits and misses so they don't appear to be half bad IMHO and at £20 / 1000 less than Olympics they're on my shopping list.
  15. Just bought 500, the local shop says they're made by Eley and they're a dead ringer for Olympics in my opinion. I'll let you know what they shoot like on Thursday
  16. It does for me, my FEO was happy with mine
  17. Would be good for grounds to use them in flushes / comps and give a prize for who ever hits them Can't see them being used of a regular basis though.
  18. Sounds like the one I've had. The flavour is superb and more than a match to my usual Chicken Jalfrezi (which by the way is also great). The heat is certainly there from the Naga in one way or another but it's not painful at all.
  19. I'm another dabbler with software of the Microsoft kind.
  20. I've found it. The Far Cotton Tandoori in Northampton is now doing Naga chilli based curries. If you live within 30 mins of Northampton you owe yourself this experience at least once. Whilst they are quite hot they're the most flavoursome curry I've ever tasted. Go on, you know you want to.
  21. Wish I hadn't bothered, much prefer the feel of the Olympic's recoil over the Superb's. First time with new carts on Comp day was a bad idea
  22. I usually shot Olympics too but have run out and my local only had Superbs today so I'll see how I get on in the comp tomorrow. Here's hoping an extra £10/250 will add another couple to the count
  23. I'm in and shooting at 11:30, anyone signed up? There's 84 entries so far and a few space left as of last night
  24. I've never owned a Beretta but have handled quie a few different models in shops and shot a 682 today, they just feel wrong for me. Bit of a shame since they look so nice and there's a great product range. Wouldn't mind trying a Guerrini as a few people have mentioned them but I've not seen one in any of my usual haunts.
