Just wondering what everyone looks for in their favourite (or ideal) clay ground? I'd like: Choice of 25 / 50 / 100 Sporting changing layouts every week Flush / Flurry single and 'team' Sport Trap Skeet Hot food & drinks

How about hiring a car and taking a drive upto Death Valley, much better than the hole in the ground.

Yep, been on the Modenas too for the last few months. Only thing is I think they're only available in 7.5, anyone seen any 8's anywhere?

Benelli Supersport, first thoughts...
majordisorder replied to majordisorder's topic in Guns & Equipment
The flag stayed in my pocket after the first stand and as you said the action open instead I'm going to shoot with it for a couple of weeks before deciding which "upgrades" are needed. Hadn't thought of the barrel extension but will add it to the list of Briley goodies. I also found that the cases ejected with such force they were rebounding off the cage, another thing to get used to after the more civilised O/U -
Well I finally got to take my new Benelli Supersport out for a crack today. For those who haven’t seen one they’re a carbon fibre effect semi auto with a brushed nickel receiver, allegedly the competition gun in the Benelli range. Having only held one briefly at Sporting Targets it was a bit of a leap of faith to order one and hope it works out okay especially being a lefty and needing a gun fairly long in the stock. I got a cracking deal from Northampton Gun (which I’d recommend to anyone) and GMK finally got it delivered after a week waiting for the snow to melt… A quick visit to the coach at Northampton Shooting ground confirmed that it fitted like a glove (with the extra-long LH replacement gel pad) so I was itching to get out and have a pop. A quick warm up on the skeet then two rounds of sporting and here are my findings… Loading the Supersport threw up a bit of a problem. Not sure if this is common on all autos but quite often a cartridge would get stuck going into the magazine. I use Modenas and it seemed like they were getting hooked up on the brass, maybe it’s just my technique but I’ll try some other carts if it continues. Although the Benelli packaging says you should only use 32g carts I had no problems at all with the 28g Modena. Not one stoppage or failure to eject. Couldn’t say the same for the Napier Safety Flag, goes in really easy but an absolute pig to get out again due to it getting hooked up on the internals. I think I’ll be looking for a different safe flag, maybe one of those metal ones. The Supersport is a fast gun. Very quick to mount, get swinging and pull through. I guess this is probably down to its lightweight and the fact that I’ve got the 28” barrel. I did have the odd occasion though when my swing through stopped after the shot. Whether that was due to the lack of weight in the gun I’m not sure but I’ve got my eyes on one of the Briley weighted mag caps if the problem continues. Actually firing the Supersport is a joy. I’ve not ever worried about recoil and the Benelli Comfortech system makes if virtually non-existent as far as I can tell. It did seem a bit noisier than my old 525 but maybe that’s down to the ported barrels? On that, I’m not sure if porting really makes any difference but I did seem to be able to acquire the second target a bit easier than normal and I’m sure there’s a little less flip too. The kills I was getting where much cleaner than normal for me too. Several dustings and loads of very fragmented clays suggests that the chokes used in the Benelli throw better patterns than the standard Browning Invectors. The only problem I found with the chokes was that they seemed to come loose rather quickly. Being extended I only hand tightened them but they were needing a pinch after every 6 shots or so. All in all a cracking gun and a promising start. Really hope I can get over the loading issue but other than that I’d recommend one to anyone. Anyone else pimped their Supersport? Some of the Briley bits look nice but not altogether necessary (like the anodised cocking lever) I’d be interested to hear about any other owners experiences.

Kick Eez Recoil Pad Grind to Fit 201-6-L-B Sporting Clay 3/4" Black Sporting Clay pads have basically the same contour lines as an all purpose pad except for the 45 degree cant in the heel canted which allows easier shouldering from the "low gun" position. Pads are constructed of sorbothane and can be ground to make a perfect fit. Brand new in box, sold my wood stocked gun and got one that fits so surplus to requirements. £20 posted

Good condition, suit 10,12,16 & 20g £11 posted Sold to bongo321 pending.

The replacement Benelli pads have now come way down in price. Apparently GMK (who import Benelli) had loads of unhappy customers with the rip off price. They're now doing them for £25 (less than cost price), so your local friendly RFD should be able to do you a reasonable deal now

Just got a new Benelli Supersport and tried to remove the cocking bolt. The manual says just pull it out but it doesn't budge. Do I need a few more weetabix or is there a special way of removing it?

Opportunity for someone
majordisorder replied to Captain Caveman's topic in Sporting Opportunities (Paid)
Just a bit of occasional rough shooting really. I have so little free time I'd gladly pay for some shooting rights where I can just pop out for an hour or two a couple of times a month which is why that sort of ad appealed so much. -
I very nearly bought the Maxus (I'm a lefty too) and after shooting a try gun at Sporting Targets I concluded that I really don't care or notice the shells ejecting across my face. Prior to that I was set on a LH Benelli M2 but today I bought a Benelli Supersport (RH). Hope it works out ok

The Northants contingent seems to be growing quickly, welcome

Anyone else know of any sites like this? I'm looking for places to shoot around Northampton / North Beds / North Bucks -
Anyone know any of companies that will do small batches of anodising (like < 10 small items)

Bit more capable than the Fiesta

Would appear that a couple of places have them advertised for sale around the £700 mark

Had a "moment" myself today in a multi-storey in MK. Coming down from the top level the ramp was solid ice and I just slide down it accelerating towards the cars parked at the bottom, bit of a brown trouser moment since there was a new 911 right in the way.... Missed by a couple of inches, note to self BMW and ice does not mix.

Browning 325 grade 5 or 525 Prestige which one ?
majordisorder replied to cempa's topic in Guns & Equipment
I've just part-ex'd my 525 today against a Benelli Supersport, really um'd and ar'd about getting a more bling 525 but in the end went for something completely different. Hope I won't be disappointed.......... -
I also do that when I'm "working from home"

Nearly decided on buying a Maxus but have a question, does the Grade 3 Premium come with the two butt pad spacers that the composite has, or just the shims?
-
Try Dell Outlet. I've had 4 laptops from there, all been great value for money, but you have to buy when you see it as it'll get snapped up pretty quickly.

I've got a CRV (and I'm not even retired), it's very spacious inside (I'm 6'4" and can sit in the quite comfortably), big boot (with a picnic table too ). On the road it's quickish (for a 4x4), I didn't get stuck in any snow, can drive across a wet field and cruise down the motorway at a good lick. It's been totally reliable even though I don't bother servicing more than every couple of years. The only down side is that I've suddenly noticed that I'm the only <70 who drives one, they're not exactly cool but it's served me well.

You sure it's not a pigeon in a Pheasant suit a'la Buffalo Bill, Silence of the Lambs?
