Had my first pop with the new gun yesterday at Northampton Shooting Ground. Geoff, one of the instructors there had a quick look at the fit for me, raised my comb by about 1.5mm with a natty pink bit of foam rubber and off I went on their Sporting layout. Weirdly despite being the 2wrong cast" for me it seems to fit pretty well otherwise. 14/30 first ever solo outing on esp followed by an 11/25 on Skeet, no records being broken. I've got a lot to learn, but all I know is I wish I'd taken this up years ago. I'm also hoping for a couple more outings before the North v South so I can help beat the pesky Northern crew!

They do but have limited mileage which may or may not be a problem for you. What I did was do back-to-back weekly rentals, got a good price and unlimited mileage.

I've just been in exactly the same position, spent months deliberating the pros and cons of new v secondhand and finally went for a secondhand Browning. Make sure you checkout Gun Trader, there are some good deals on there (as well as on here of course) and it'll give you a good idea of what you can get for your money.

I need a new recoil pad for my Browning 525 Sporter since the factory thin plastic one is broken. Ideally a new one would add around 20-25mm in length since it's a little short at the moment. I'll be using the gun for Sporting + Skeet if that makes any difference.

Just got back from Northampton Gun Co where they've given it a clean bill of health mechanically (good to know I didn't buy a lemon) Time to give it a go and see how the fit is.
