  3. was thinking of getting myself a barbour for the shooting as a wee treat but i may opt for the suit as it seems very ideal. is the jacket warm cranfield?
  4. BH, Just to let you know that i have a 16wk old lab and she is the best thing to happen to me...even if the missus does not speak to me anymore!! She is my first dog to train as have had others before but my dad trained them, the first few weeks are pretty hard work but now we have "our little routine" and i think she is amazing and also very obedient and not as wild as i had expected although the £75 quid rug from ikea was a bad buy,but hey. As somone has said you only get what you put in, Enjoy.NCS
  5. I work for a subsiduary of the NHS and get he haw as the nhs dont do bonus payments...dull one, though i got a nice hamper...
  6. am with henry d,home made raspberry voddy with some more on the way......and corona to wash it down...mmm
  7. My ideal day would be me and pops and all my friends(no there are more that 2 of them...) having a nice walked up day on a crisp frosty scottish morning with plenty of sloe gin, sloe vodka, cherry brandy........Back to the Log cabin with roaring fire on for some venison in a blackberry & red wine sauce.....mmmm. As you can see the shooting is the not the most important thing in the world....its the 3rd after drink and Sex!!
  8. i got done in june(on my birthday) and also in feb(was on way back from cushie shooting) both by the same method, a hidden van either in a lay-by or behind trees. The blighters dont flash and looks like a normal tranny van. took 10 days to recieve notifacation but 2 months to go to court. Take heed, its not worth speeding and havin 2 get the missus to drive you round the bend and up the wall!!! i have learned the hard way. Good luck.
  9. Hey wickerman, I used a baikal for 7yrs until the stock cracked, it was a great gun and not too heavy,if the gun is well looked after you should not have any problems. But if you can try before you buy. i just bought a winchester sporter for £700 which is a great budget/novice shooter allrounders gun tho a bit out of your price range.
  10. Ha cool game, usuall story tho'. could hit b*gger all...!!!
  11. Tam just to let you know,i got my new boots, hunter torridons last week, not broken in yet but soooo comfy. They were on offer from john norris.
  12. the mouflon look nice but as was said you get what you pay for,can anyone recomend a more budget boot for under £100,i was thinking of ordering from cabelas in usa but am not sure?
  13. thanks martin, the breeder phoned tonight to see how we were getting on so i told him the situation and like someone said earlier i will try paper in one end of her cage and bed at the other at least it will keep her off the settee,he said one of the main reasons for the runny ones was that where he is situated there is no chlorine in the water but where i stay there is,which makes a diff to the pup. cheers NCH.
  14. ........and it may make him a few quid in the process!! There is nothing for the beginner/novice that really covers all aspects of owning a pup.sorry for all the questions's nttf.
  15. I got a bag of dry food from the breeder which is what she has been feed on in recent weeks but i am trying to mix it in with bakers puppy food roughly a handful of each at 7 am the same at lunch with a small amount of trout or pheasant or duck etc. mixed in and the same at 5pm latest,do you think this is too much? i have been thinking of maybe giving her porridge or similar would this help? Thanks
  16. thanks nttf,i will get rid of the paper asap, she is not lasting thru the nite leaving 2-3 little pressies for me to clean up but as i mentioned i am leaviung the cage door open at nite as if she is needing the loo i thought it would be better if she does not soil in her living area,is this a bad idea?i dont want to be cruel but neither do i want to ruin her and get her into bad habits. once again thanks.
  17. dont think cage will be big enough, its not even me bothering about the poo i am feeling sorry for teal as she has no control over this and am also taking some in the neck from the missus, she obviously thinks it should be an easy job and come out smellin like roses!
  18. weve got laminate down so its not that bad,she is last out about 10.30-11 pm then straight to bed.last feed is about 5pm latest and 8pm for last water. Dave if the cage door is open at night which it is just now she can go out and climb on the sofa,i have thought about it but cant find an answer. i had put papr down but she avoided the areas i had put them in.
  19. Hi all,i collected my 9 wk old pup(teal by the way) on fri and she has settled in really well but i am worried about her at night,i have a cage for her with blanket and bed and toys etc,but i have left the cage door open at night and she has done the toilet in the living room a few times and ended sleeping on the couch for a while both nights, thats not a problem(the doing the loo in the livingroom that is!) and understand that she is still v young and will do this but should i be closing the door and then coming down at 2 am to let her out?? i have not given her water too late at night and feed her at 5ish, am i worrying too much as this is the first time i have had a pup.
  20. sorry but am new to the jargon and talk, sorry for being a bit slow!!
