  1. Off Dads Army, maybe you are a bit young :*) Both of my CZ bolts started out stiff but they get better, I put a tiny drop of oil round any parts that mate during the opening and closing. They are great guns no question, but these are not precision rifles don't forget...

Looks like top quality gun at very reasonable price, pity I don't need one. You deserve to sell that PB, but I feel this is tough place to flog stuff, may have to resort to GunTrader mate.
  3. Ahh, but you are driving to one of the best sporting layouts I have shot, so it is worth it. Luckily that one isn't too far from me :o I drive past several local pubs (and trout fisheries for that matter) to get to a better one, so closest isn't always best
  4. I fitted that kit to my CZ452 and I am very happy with the results. People do think it will be the be all and end all though, so its worth pointing out it will only reduce trigger pull (which you can do by adjusting the pressure on the original spring - to a certain degree) and if you are lucky enough to get the 'tube' to fit and work it will reduce trigger creep. I have seen other sites where they show adhesive foil tape used in place of the tube though. I know of 3 people who have fitted the kits, apart from me, and none of them have ever got the tube to fit and work safely. You do need very good (i.e. not Chinese) pin punch of the right diameter before starting, do not attempt to fit kit without one, like I did  Good luck!
  5. I have worked out this is not the best palce to sell things  Load of tight **** on here, mind you that means it is good place to buy stuff The rings I had on here were never moved, they got snapped up on ebay! The scope is going well with 5 days to go. So I know where to buy, and where to sell now. . .
  6. There is no scabbyness at all, it is more like moulting, very even no patches or anything like that. Does that change any or the answers above? I am going to speak to the man about Camorosa, see what he says too. Thanks for all the input guys.
  7. How about The Bay City Rollers? they were pretty ****!
  8. Cheers LB, I am sure I have sen that in a shooting mag somewhere I will give it a go.
  9. We have a JRT cross, who has been losing hair steadily throughout the summer. Unfortunately this is continuing now even though the weather has cooled down a tad, and he's starting to look very pink not only on his belly but moving up his sides. What he has lost is what fly tyers would call the 'gaurd hair' (which is the fluffy stuff that stays closest to the body, for those unfamiliar with the term) He does scratch quite a bit but, is free from fleas, he has now got a flea collar on as well as a precaution , he was scratching before we put that on so hopefully that eliminates that too. My missus is threatening to take him to the vet, but before I cough up 30 quid or whatever it will cost me does anyone have any ideas what may cause this? Help!

  11. Thanks guys The farmer thinks he has a problem with pigeons, and in all fairness I have seen a few about, but he also thinks he has rabbit problems and I have only ever seen about 5! The place is overrun with hares but he wants those saved along with the foxes. As soon as I can get something a bit nearer I will focus on that (but I live the the valley of gun owners, otherwise known as Thames...) The attraction of the land is it is in a very picturesque Cotswold village with a few decent pubs and is about halfway between me and my my mate, so can see the tempatation on a summers day/evening
  12. Any near me to save me driving 70 miles?
  13. Remind me not to buy a house off you!! :o
  14. I can't shoot, so I just blame whatever ammo I am using on the day!
  15. I have recently acquired access to 1,200 acres of land, I don't know too much about it other than having good look round it back in August time. There were plenty of pigeons swirling about. Being a bit of a novice pigeon shooter I have managed to gleen that was probably the best time to have shot the land but I didn't have the time then :*) I will soon have the spare time, but is it worth the effort or should I hang on? I should add the land is 70 miles from where I live so short sessions aren't really a viable option. I hope this hasn't been asked too many times before, and would welcome any input, thanks.
  16. From the coments here it is obvious there are huge gun/ammo mis matches. I find Federal the best of the factory ammo ther is (and I can't even afford to use the Premium stuff, I have heard there are even better) so completly at odds with what Stirky said. Trial and error I guess... Expensive business rifle ownership isn't it? As for worst group, it has to go to PPU! But the bloke in my local gunshop reckons it groups almost as well as his handloads in his gun - so there were go again :*)
  17. PM, I have heard that there is a Bass Pro shop 'I Drive' Orlando now, so they <may> be able to help if you don't get any help here. Good luck sounds like a great trip, stick some big fish pictures up on here when you get back!

Dave, They can be that much, it depends how good they are. I just bought a set for my CZ and they were 40 quid, but I paid £70 for the Optilock rings and bases for my Tikka (they are stainless so cost £10 more)
  19. Theres plenty of pigeons all around that area, and the Deer aren't too far away from you either, if you head out towards Shinfield you will hit countyside pretty quickly - once you get away from that M4
  20. I shot a 30-06 Saur (?) years ago and seemed fine to me, recoil wise. I wasn't expecting to get beaten up, and I think that is lot to do with it. I had a go with .375 H&H a couple of months ago and while that ceratinly had a kick like a mule it also didn't knock my fillings out ( I shot it off sticks as I refused to shoot it prone seeing as the owner now shoots with a permanent flintch) My understanding is that although it is a big old round the old boys like 30-06 because it is relatively 'slow' and not one of these upstart speed demon rounds? As every one has said though .308 will give you cheap ammo and flexibility, but just in case you have already made your mind up.... The guy who takes us stalking in Scotland has seen more deer shot than anyone I have ever met, he is out on the hill 6 days week, either on his own or with clients. When asked what he least favourite calibre was he didn't even hesitate to nominate .308, on the grounds that he has has to fire more follow up shots for clients using them than any other calibre. Horses for courses, you didn't say what your main use for the gun would be? If it is for killing, and ammo prices don't bother you get a 6.5 x 55 If thousands of dead Elk could talk they would tell you they are pretty effcetive
  21. I was afraid you were going to ask that! Well the 55's were grouping at about 2" at 100 yards, which IMHO is not good enough. I ran out of 50grn's last week so I wasn't able to complete the back to back comparison. My mate had is AR15 along and that was sticking his homeloads through the same hole, I know that a grand + worth of shooter, so I am not comparing the 2 but and indication that it wasn't the conditions. I bought the 55grn's as I was told they were the most readily availble bullet weight for .223 and the 50grn is most popular weight for .222. I now know I can get whatever I want at a resonable price so I will get some more 50's and test them out at 100/200 yrds. I have also found out that I can use a range much nearer to home whenevr I want so that will make testing a lot less painfull. I have to put some time in on the house over the next couple of weeks, so it may be while until I am able to do some more testing, but I will keep you posted.
  22. Doubt it, however for the PC amongst us I would strongly advise not wndering innocently off into other areas of the Forum (sporting pictures for example :*) )
  23. Got any pictures of your gun, with you holding it of course
  24. Hi Frank, I tried 55 Grn Sako's at 100 and 200 yards on Saturday, and wasn't as impressed as I was with 50 Grn version. I tried the 50's at 50yrds and got a clover leaf hole with 3 quick shots, but the 55's at 100yrds opened out quite a lot from there. It was raining on and off and blowing a fair bit, so not the best conditions, but then we don't always hunt on nice sunny calm days either I will go back and do a bit more research before I give up and finally get into reloading My 6.5x55 was spot on at 100yrds and 200yrds, but 140grns are obviously less bothered by bit of rain and breeze.
