  1. I think this is question about missing, not shooting Ern!
  2. So, is the left one bigger than the right or is it the other way round
  3. when you get it simply float it properly, nearly no 452's came out of the factory properly free floated, often touching down the right hand side. so they need material removing, after that you simply replace the trigger with the brookes kit use some good ammo, none of that copper washed stuff and shoot groups like this (5 shots, 50 yards, eley subs) Nick, Have you compared the Eley's to Winchester subs? If so what did you think? I have only ever shot Winchesters, but I like the sound of the Eley's I just need to check on availability in my area.
  4. and yes, he knows about the woodworm before some smart4rse comments on it....
  5. I have been asked to put this up her on behalf of a mate, I have looked through this scope and is it up there with the very best - by that I mean Zeiss, Schmidt and Bender and Swarovski. It's a Pecar Berlin 4-10 x 45 Varible Reticle No. 2 Have a look at: http://www.pecar-berlin.de/WAS__NOCH__/VAR...ari_scopes.html Although less well known than the other big hitters these are every bit as good, Pecar are small family concern so do not have the marketing budgets that they have. It is optically perfect and cosmetically clean, no ring marks, have look at the photo or PM me for more information if required. It is located in the West Midlands if you want to take a look at it. £230 inc delivery to mainland UK.
  6. I am not sure if this has been posted on here before or not, but this link is a pretty useful resource if you can't find the manual for your gun. It also handy to look up where that left over spring should go when you have just put the sucker back together again  http://www.stevespages.com/page7b.htm
  7. "oh by the way the twines for hangin them from the back of the jeep to take them to dump" Are you telling us they re-cycle foxes up your way then Billy?
  8. I use the wifes picnic mat from Marks & Sparks, even has a waterproof back! I don't know how much it cost, but I can bet it was less than some the 'specialised' mats out there!
  9. It's a bit like 8' x 4' sheets of plaster and wood being 30mm thick - we haven't really embraced the metric system yet :( Multiply the shot sizes by 25.4 and that will give you the diameter in mm's Divide the shot weight by 28 and that will give the weight in onces
  10. So where is Jeremy Beadle waiting then? 28/30/32 etc Gram refers to the amount of lead (or whatever you are shooting) 32Grams of propelant would give you a kick you wouldn't forget for a while - if you survived it in the first place :(
  11. I can tell you if you don't aim in the right place niether will work :(
  12. Trev, Ok well spotted I will edit the original reply Tenbears, SEE WHAT I MEANT ABOUT CHOKES + CARTRIDGES :( Could be a long afternoon!!
  13. Ok, what I meant to say was... Everyone will have an opinion on what is the best shot size and calibre for a given type of shooting, and that can draw you away from the original question. So here goes. I managed to find this, it doesn't look like it formatted very well but here it is, I hope it is of some help. The columns are, Shot size, diameter in INCHES and number of pellets per once. AAA .20 35 BB .16 70 1 .14 100 3 .12 140 4 .11 170 5 .105 220 6 .10 270 7 .095 340 So you can see 7's have an extra 70 pellets more per once than 6's and are smaller diameter. They will tend to have less killing power at range but will be better for closer shots.
  14. Gamebore Clear Pigeons are pretty good cheap cartridges, in 30 or 32G. I use 6's as they give a big more wallop. You can get drawn into pellet size versus chokes discussions that go on for ever and I am not going there! I will try and find some words of visdom about pellet numbers and sizes, the Eley Diary is a great resource for stuff like that - and it doubles up as a diary :(

  16. Sounds like a scene from 'Caddy Shack' :(

    Fuel Shortage

All the stations near me are back to normal, all those peole who panicked have done is given the feul companies a nice little boost to their earnings this week, so pretty counterproductive action :*) OK, all you deisel drivers, who is going to be brave enough to give this a go, or who has alreday tried it?? (those of us who do not have access to red of course) http://www.dieselveg.com/
  18. I already know of a couple of members who have hooked up simply because they noticed they might live near to each other and have got in touch (for a drink, nothing romantic!) so it has other benifits as well. Mind you, if I lived in Wales...... Only joking! :(
  19. I haven't either but my mate had a SGC AR15 built for him and raves about it and also the quality of service that he got from SGC, so as always there are 2 sides to the coin.

    Fuel Shortage

I was in the States last June and August and man were they p!ssed that gas was approching, or going over $2 /Gallon! I worked in the Middle East in the mid 1990's and we used to fill out Volvo Estate up for £1.20. It's another world :(

    Fuel Shortage

Norfolkboy, Even with VAT and import duty that is about half of what we pay in the UK! Axe, I filled up last night, 2 reasons, I was almost empty, and I need to get Weston Park on Saturday  Work is irrelevant, I can of course work from home, or just not bother if I run out...
  22. They are great for the range, but can you imagine seeing someone with one dressed in cammo stalking around a field with one, SO19 would be one their way in no time flat! :*) Dave, I don't think they are just designed to look like an M16, I think they are based on the aramlite chassis and built up from there.
  23. Some would say, "buy the best scope you can't afford!" I would second the recommendation for the Meopta, as a mid range scope, you can still pick them for £225 or so. I put a 7x50 on my rimfire and it is the dogs wotsits, I particularly like the graduated 6 o'clock post which I would say a better system for holdover than mil dot - oops! controversial statement time :(
  24. Here's some funny ones that I have witnessed recently... I went beating on a partridge shoot near me a couple of Saturday's ago and almost trod on a Muntjac that strolled out of the maize, she just looked up and strolled back in - no panic at all! I saw a Muntjac on some land I have the rights to and was watching him through my bino's. I then saw a rabbit feeding on the grass in front on him. I dropped the rabbit and the Munty didn't even flinch, jut butted the bunny a few times to see why it fell over :( and them casualy wondered off. We were sailing off the south coast of Devon at the weekend and we saw a pod of bottle nose dolphins, just after that a small bird landed on the deck of out boat (unidentied but looked bit like a bunting of some sort) when he flew off a hawk stooped down and almost took the poor sod out! I recken being sportsmen not only are we 'out there' more than most couch potatoes, but we tend to look closer at what is arround us too.
  25. Over the first hurdle OK, FLO/FEO approved the variation OK and reckons the paperwork <should> be back with me on Friday. Bought a secondhand Schmidt & Bender 8x56 today - so that just leaves erm umm, oh yes, the gun :*) Should be looking at one on Friday, if that is a no go I may have to resort to the Middland, or maybe Minsterley. I will try not be tempted by the secondhand 'bargains' at the fair which are more likey be shot out keepers part exchange guns! :(
