  1. Whats going on ere then? - I always thought it was men that bought the chocks for blondes Nice to see you at it webber.
  2. I've been here several times - in fact I'm here even as I type this on my keyboar... Oh
  3. Nice small mod on the end of your Quad mate - what is it?
  4. Alex, I've had a quick looksee for any bolts that look like they might be holding the body to the chassis but found nothing. I'm not in any way a vehicle expert so I'm probably being naive to think it's that simple - it's probably welded up. The ****** is that the last owner "lost" all the paperwork - except the registration cert and the toad alarm certification. It drives really well now so I'm not losing any sleep over it - and it passed an MOT ok a few weeks ago.
  5. Alex, I've temporarily put 10mm of plate washers on the off side studs which clears the strut ok. The studs have 25mm visible thread so they'll take a bit more I reckon. The local Mitsubishi dealer (independant) recons there is no adjustment on the suspension or chassis. It drives straight with no tyre scrubbing or pulling so I'll probably leave well alone. It's an altogether more capable 4x4 and much more bump absorbing with the extra tyre height. YA, Them Insa's look like they have a little less gap between the treads so would probably be quieter on the road.
  6. My three best nights are 93 between my grandson and I - 119 between fleabag, his mate and I - and 70 on my own: All on a new permission in Cornwall using HMR's out the Pajero window and roof. We shot over 500 bunnies spread over a 10 day break. It can indeed lead to a bit of soul searching when you get umpteen in one night, it is certainly mundane, but the farmer wants the job doing and may well get someone else in to do it instead. I just offset that against the nights I only get 2 or 3 up here in Leicester. Another visit to Cornwall is on the cards soon
  7. I wanted to try these tyres for the boggier parts of a couple of my permissions. Fleabag would laugh his socks off if I got my hairdressers Pinin stuck - so I had to make super sure it don't happen when the winter draws in. It's also a very economical way to gain about 30mm ground clearance. To save me typing it all out again here's a link to my thread about them on the Pajero Ownners club forum. As you might expect though - there aint many pinin owners on there, and none of them had tried this before. http://www.pajerouk.co.uk/forums/index.php...57851#msg257851
  8. End cap? are you sure its a SAK? Mine has a single grubscrew holding the outer sleeve in place onto the cntral "hub" - which has a bullet hole through its length and large cavities milled through its sides. The central o/d of the hub was mostly milled off to leave an expansion space around the edge of it. To clean I undo the screw and whack it end on - onto a bench to separate the parts. The first one I tried to separate (fleabags actually) had been left too long and had sort of corroded itself together.
  9. I'm not mentioning any names here (fleabag) but I know someone that wishes the ***** who put a sunroof made for a curved roof into a car with a flat roof did the job properly. Problem is it would cost more to drive that V6 pajero up here to get it put right than another sunroof would cost in Cornwall. Just sayin be carefull like
  10. Never tried one mate - but that catch on the magazine looks like it'll be a right pain - particularly if you intend to manoeuvre it in and out of cars while lamping. But then again I have been spoiled by the flush fitting one on a Quad

    Errr.....

The #### probably got some kind of art grant for that
  12. Your all barking ma... oh ang thats in Essex innit?

    rain

I trod all the way out through the back into the conservatory several times in the night to check if it was a good idea to nip out for a few hours. I wearily trundled back indoors each time and could'nt even nod off - taint fair it aint.
  14. I know we're coming into a recession and this will be a majar disaster for some of us, but what do you make of the falling house prices? I personally know several people, including my kids and grandkids would be unable to consider buying their own home if prices remain as they are. Wages and employment prospects have fallen far behind the cost of our homes and most would agree a fall was or is inevitable. Despite having a mortgage to complete I personally feel a little relief that my kids just might manage to buy a home at some time in their lives. At the risk of needing a tin hat I actually hope they fall significantly. Your thoughts ladies and gents?
  15. I'm not very good at saying exactly what I mean but I can't help feeling we are loosing a valuable contributor to the forum. It's Darnned hard to please everyone - and some have made their feelings abouit David and BASC crystal clear in the past. Shame - damn shame. Sorry to see you leave David but I reckon you have thought this out very carefully before announcing your departure. I hope that you will reconsider. ATB, Dave.
  16. I heard something on the radio this morning about a shooting competitor failing a drugs test. I can't imagine what sort of drug would improve shooting performance though.

    Sleep problems

Well after 23 hours awake I took some over the counter ones her indoors got for me. Copped about 5 hours broken kip and went for an all night shoot. Just got home after washing the hairdressers pinin and popped another tab. Just having brekkers with horlicks and I have kept well clear of tea and coffee all night. Hope to sleep till about 4pm ready for an 8pm all night shift.
  18. You can't walk with your boots full of deeks silly
  19. Gwan - you know you wanna and we won't tell either
  20. There's now't tedious with the Quad 5 round mag. It flips out ever so easy into the hand when the rifle is facing upwards. It's dead easy to load in the dark - easier than a mates CZ he says and it's flush with the bottom of the abs stock... can't comment on the wood one though. The mag also has a viewing hole to let the user view the presence or absence of the fith bullet - in case your a little forgetful with all the excitement. Another very clever aspect of the Quad in respect of slight memory fade in the chase is that if the safety does'nt engage the gun has not been cocked or recocked. Furthermore, the safety is notably silent. I have had zero problems though, but they seem to clear up with a good copper solvent clean - bronze brushes don't seem to keep it very happy.

    Sleep problems

Still no sleepy - going out to see if I can catch a couple of non resident farmers on their farms. I lost one of them when it was sold and I've never been about when either of them show up. It's my night off tonight so no need to worry too much about when I'm tired enough to fall asleep.

    Sleep problems

Well the Horlicks dint do the job, though in fairness I had an "early morning" and hit the pillow before I ought to have done. I almost drifted off till a foghorn in front of me decided to roll onto her back with her knees up over my legs - yep double whammy... snores and legslips. I just knew I should'nt have slipped quietly into bed and stayed just on the cooler side. The Horlicks is on the boil again and guess whose going to get out of the nice warm bit as soon as I accidently bump into her soon?
  23. I've only had an S410K and now have a FAC Cyclone, so I know now't about the shot count's. and it's hardly a fair comparison on the shooting aspect - so I won't dwell on that aspect. Both .22 My S410K was very nice: Walnut stocked, fairly quiet, quite short and lightweight enough to carry it about for up to five hours or so lamping with an Atom and an oversize battery pack on the butt. Mine was a Pre anti-tamper one without a safety catch. The power curve was evident but fairly predictable, and when hunting it's quite easy to misjudge a few yards anyway. (You don't mention your intended use of the two rifles by the way) When I got to see the safety catch of a newer S410K I cringed because that particular rifle's trigger also rattled everytime I moved the rifle which annoyed my perfectionist streak immensly. Small crtiscism though because our rifle was very accurate and predictable. My son, grandson and I each found we had to "decisively" work our bolt to achieve a re-load, another minor irk - but I think that often gave away our location to quarry. My Cyclone is much nicer: The barrel is screwthreaded - despite it's more than doubled power the (aftermarket) Weihrauch silencer on it makes it quieter than the AA. The rifle seems lighter though I never actually weighed either - with a thinner forestock it might just be that it's a better balance. It's a much nicer piece of walnut that somehow fits me better - even down to a thumb groove in just the right place... erm assuming your a right hander of course. The biathalon cocking action is both smoother and quieter - and can easily be cycled without moving the rifle much off target. The notably very quiet safety catch is exactly under thumb and Two "FF's" spring to mind when I let anyone try it... Forwards to Fire. The almost silly "rhyme" seems to be memorable though because everyone does it correctly. Magazine loading is tricky to start with but you'll soon get the knack and be able to load in the dark, bet you drop it first time you get it out though I think the single most valuable difference is the regulator - though I seem to recall one could be retrofitted to an AA. (anyone?) It is just SO PREDICTABLE. It's taken one of the variables out of the hunting performance: wind, distance and steadiness will vary - but the FPS will be as near constant as can be. The triple power settings are a bit of a gimmick I think. Mine are about 18, 24 and 27ftlb. If I did any indoor vermin control I might use a lower setting but out in the field I prefer maximum smack to get the job done if I'm marginally off my intended point of impact. The Cyclone is a better breed - but at a higher price if my memory is correct. If you can afford to spoil yourself for something very important to you spend that bit more mate.
  24. Still in front - 116 now. ATB

    Sleep problems

Thanks for all the input guys, I DO usually have a cuppa when I come in - which is mayby an hour or two before I go to bed: It takes at least a couple of hours for me to unwind from driving. Wifey has got the Horlicks - so I'll give the milky drink a try in the morrow.
