  1. I'm sure we all realise that the footage is of rock chuck hunting and is a promotional video from a hunting site in the States, nothing to do with shooting Taliban in Afganistan. Also reading that thread apparently it wasn't done using .50BMG either, but more likely to be a much smaller round. You can't judge distance in the footage due to there being no scale of reference.
  2. Assuming you have a clean sheet and you've known a doctor, JP or Professional person etc for at least 2 years who'll countersign your photo's and form then it's pretty easy getting a SGC. Wasn't a member of any clubs, I just told them I'd been sharing a shotgun at occassional clay shoots for years with a friend, which was true. That was it. I live in Hampshire and it can vary slighty from area to area. I even bought the cab and fitted it so that the guy didn't have to return again to check, he saw it when he came on the first visit. I also requested a cancellation and I waited about 2 weeks to see the guy instead of probably 3 months! No house alarm needed, and he was happy with the doors and windows anyway. Cabs start at about £75 or less for a small breakdown cab. I bought a £90 full-height one that took 2 shotguns. Have since sold and replaced it for a much bigger one, so just get a decent sized one to start with probably. Happy shooting!
  3. I may be unemployed by then but I'm sure I could hook up with you if at all possible, indeed I certainly won't be short of time! I can get to Bristol area in maybe an hour and forty five minutes from Hampshire.
  4. The powder is all used after the first 13" hence the fact that the .22 carbine works fine and sounds and operates as well as a 20" model.
  5. "Valleys"? ..... In Belgium? Surely not?!
  6. I have a .22LR Semi, a Remington 597. Once you've found what ammo suits it best it's a good gun particularly for bunnys and lamping as any follow-up shots can be taken rapidly. It's also extremely quiet too. However, it's not much use for pin-point accuracy after 75yds I have to say. CZ Bolt Action .22's are seriously accurate. My Pal just bought a brand new CZ Carbine .22 and although he's a good shot anyway it is deadly accurate at 100 yds and over; and that's using a Mod and Sub's! I was totally impressed with it. But semi's are OK just not for long range stuff or target shooting, unless you spend money on a few trick modifications that is.
  7. Get a couple of high-seats built, bought, put up. It looks, as far as you can tell from the photo's, like .22LR sort of land, but still pretty flat, hence the high-seats needed. You can always agree to shoot away from the rail line.
  8. I could use some Elbow Grease, but I see you have none.
  9. 46 now, but with the body of a 25 y/o..... don't tell the Cops!
  10. A few close-ups taken tonight to verify the condition of the scope and so on, and also that my coffee table needs a dusting!
  11. That boy sure gotta purdy mouth!
  12. Own their own pub or not, unless they're a brewery manager they are paying for the priviledge of running their own business establishment, whether it's leased or owned, so it's still their call. Yes, the alcohol side is regulated but that's not the issue here. The public can always vote with their feet. Everyone is entitled to an opinion but let's keep the main point in mind. The public don't need to be exposed to risks (and shouldn't be) from the "People who buy the Sun & others", I know exactly what you mean by that remark, and it can all be avoided. But in correctly establishing the rights of non-smokers the government has b*ll*xed it up uneccessarily. It's their lack of concern and perspective that troubles me most. They don't seem to be able to do anything reasonably or correctly. The hunting ban is another fine example of what I mean. They'll put anything through the house if they think they can win another 1000 votes, and that's no basis for parliamentary democracy. They seem to be micro-managing us not governing us, when they should be assuming we're mostly reasonable people who don't want to infringe on other people. Issues should come up through local politics to the party conference and then perhaps into legislation, not just "Oh I know, lets think up another little vote-winner and get a bill through". Sure... jail the no-gooders, stamp on the trouble-makers and re-offenders etc. I go along with that certainly.
  13. I agree with Gemini and Shawn. Firstly a landlord should be able to decide, God knows there are enough pubs in our country for non-smokers to go to as an alternative to a smoking pub. Besides, most pubs would have still been non-smoking anyway in the end. Also the smoking room idea is a great one, that way everyone gets what they want. I reckon Blair was too scared to go for an all-out ban so went for the usual wishy-washy approach and thats what messed it up in the end. I'm sure he's actually glad his party helped to get a total ban through the house in the end and will seek to make capital from it soon enough. I'm just frightened about the Nanny state approach (read 1984 for that) and the attack on traditional freedoms of choice. I strongly believe non-smokers shouldn't have to suffer but there was a better way to do it than this, it's not rocket science. As it's a ban on smoking in all public places does that mean that pubs will also not be able to do what they do in Ireland? They can't set up out the back in the garden for smokers, or even in the street? After all the garden is probably classed as a public place as it's a public house surely, and non-smokers could easily loose their way and stumble into the garden by mistake and be killed by the smokers? They say smoking takes the last 10 years off your life.... but then generally most of us (smokers and non-smokers) spend the last 10 years dribbling and peeing ourselves and being a burden on our kids, so who the hell wants the last 10 years anyway?
  14. Here is an example of the Reticle they have
  15. I just got a modestly priced S&B for my deer rifle so I now have one too many scopes. It's a superb scope, designed for centrefire but equally at home as a top quality rimfire scope. Seen very little action indeed. Has the magic "7" Exit Pupil. I used it for stalking but they're also used for foxing so they must be pretty good at that too. Looks new, lovely optics, no ring marking that I can recall but naturally I'll double check for you and update if necessary with close up photo's. Bought it last year from Minsterley as my first centrefire scope. It also comes with genuine Butler Creek pop-up covers front & rear included. They would normally cost a bit to buy as an extra. I'm sure I have the original box and instructions for it too. Has one of those great Meopta reticles with the range finder scale built into it. I only have a picture of it mounted on my rifle from before. The photo must be 3 or 4 months old now. It's sitting there not doing what it was designed to do, I'd prefer to have some ammo money instead and know it was getting used. I gave about £275 for it as I recall, plus the B/C covers so probably around £300 spent in all. It's top notch kit and the buyer will be a very happy hunter indeed. Hopefully someone out there in PW Land can put it back into good use either on a current rifle or one they're planning ??
  16. So do you have a link to the site?
  17. It's called the Exit Pupil I believe.
  18. Lads this would easily pull £300 or more on eBay, definitely worth 260 inc £20 worth of Special Delivery postage!!!
  19. No idea what your budget is but I hear very good things about the Isuzu Troopers (Duty and Citation models). They aren't dear and pretty bullet proof from what I know. Probabaly even more solid than Shoguns and definitely cheaper. They're well equipped, quite nice shape and they go up to a 3.1Diesel I believe, so they can be fairly pokey. Bags of space and I'd have thought a good all-rounder for you. There is the the 3.0 litre diesel Toyota Surf also, Daihatsu 4-tracks are OK. I reckon mint ones are around £5k but you could probably go a £1k less and still get a reasonable one.
  20. Because it sounds more adventurous maybe? I expect he worked there previously.
