  1. No way is steph better looking and the minuite she speaks nahhhhhhh just nasty lol
  2. Any guess at optimum barrel length does not take into account either subsonic or sonic load, burn rate of powder, bullet weight,type/amount of lubricant, temperature even altitude but truth be known it doesn't really mater the bunnies won't care one jot how long your rifle is
  3. Why is it nonsense to claim that moderators are for hearing protection? We had a hse inspection on the estate 2 years ago and I was specifically asked if my rifles where moderated or if I was supplied hearing protection if I remember right it was because at work you cant legally be exposed to sound levels over 140db
  4. The 1m rule is complete nonsense 1 of my pens takes 3000 birds on the 1 bird to 1m of fence rule it would need to be 3 kilometers round wouldn't want to walk that back in 5 times a day let alone my other pens as well lol
  5. Not legal i.e. illegal as the pdf shows
  6. It is definatly not legal to release reeves http://publications.naturalengland.org.uk/file/1220047
  7. Without proof you aren't very credible though are you? Show us some proof that shoots dump shot game or name a shoot that does I'm sure any reasonable sportsman would like to know so that shoot could be avoided or maybe if you had any idea you would realise that demand for game is at an all time high and provides a valuable source of income to any shoot.
  8. Why not name them if your prepared to accuse shoots of poor practice then you should back up your statement though as I suggested I doubt you ever will cause the chances are its hearsay/nonsense and you don't know for fact.
  9. It always interests me when some one says they know of a shoot that has dumped pheasants yet there is never any proof and the accuser never names and shames the shoot. I used to have to sell over 15000 head of shot game per season (only 6000 head a year now)and have never struggled to sell them infact the dealer is regularly waiting for our birds at the end of the day
  10. Collins nets sell proper pegs for holding down pen wire they aren't cheap but they worked well on our flinty ground.
  11. Didnt mean too sound all doom and gloom but the reality is that if your asking on a forum what the job entails with the intention of doing a course then you really need to think long and hard as to whether its right for you and given the already saturated and limited job market for keepers what exactly is going to make you stand out from the crowd. I don't say any of this lightly I am a 3rd gen keeper with 25 years full time experience and before I went single handed had 4 underkeepers I've had to read many a cv and believe me there are some cracking lads out there already waiting there chance, I'm afraid the hardest question any prospective keeper should ask is not about the whys and wherefores of the job but simply why should they employ me instead of the hundreds of others if you cant answer that then reconsider your choice.
  12. Not wishing to be a nay sayer but I would think long and hard as to whether you want to waste time on what will probably lead to disappointment knowing that hundereds of well qualified and experienced lads are really struggling to get a job at the minute it should be ringing alarm bells to you take note from the lads who used to be keepers (there are a lot of them)and how much they want to get back into it if they cant with experience what chance do you have.
  13. I wonder if say basc etc insurance still covers you should you be receiving reward/payment for shooting I would hazard at guess at no
  14. Seems so strange to me that people moan about immigration yet would happpily be an immigrant, I wonder how the other countries veiw the british immigrants
  15. Going by the near farcical way in which my cert renewal was handled it could well be an omission on their part unfortunately I don't have my old cert to compare it to
  16. Not wishing to fuel the fire but my dispatch pistols are not restricted to any peice of land it is worded as such The .22,.9mm and the .357 pistol slaughtering instruments shall be used in connection with the humane killing of animals in their duties as a gamekeeper
  17. Maybe thats why he's an ex keeper?
  18. I thought the point of concealed carry was that you didn't know who is armed have they not just made the teacher the first target?
  19. No you don't have to wear a helmet on the road or at least not as far as the dept of transport or police are concerned https://www.gov.uk/q...bikes-the-rules https://www.askthe.police.uk/content/Q355.htm
  20. It worries me that anyone who has placed themselves in a position that requires them to be arrested still holds a sgc or fac
  21. amazing how different forces work but when I sent both tickets for variation I rang up and was told to just send £26 it covered both tickets variation was granted fine for me having the misses able to bring me a gun out to work or nip to the shop for ammo etc is a real bonus as is the fact that should my renewal ever be delayed my guns stay put
  22. get your misses to apply for fac as well then theres no problem with storage and its cheaper than another cabinet
  23. I wonder just how much co2 mcartny has produced jetting all over the world to his concerts?
  24. As you have never done it how would you know I truly think some of you need your head read this man has no experience and the chances are will only ever shoot a handful in his lifetime better to go with too much gun than not enough but I guess the inexperienced experts on here would manage a perfect shot in every situation even if the animal is in distress Fallen stock doesn't necessarily mean immobile stock as I said I normally use a pistol be it .22 or .357 I would not expect a inexperienced user to manage a clean kill with either but yet again the internet experts will advise this.No animal has ever complained of being killed with too much gun
  25. If the idea is to humane dispatch only in an emergency then forget about a pistol,For roe a .410 with 6 shot is fine but once you get into horse and cattle you need something a bit bigger I keep a box of 50g bb's in the truck as occasionally there isn't time to run home for a pistol and I always have a 12 with me, you really don't need slugs just a couple of boxes of appropriate shotgun ammo to hand I would also suggest as is said above reading up or even better as I did ask the hunt to tag along on their fallen stock run then you will see first hand P.s even with a 12 or pistol if done correctly there is no mess or risk of ricochet when shooting horse or cattle however when dispatching small cranium'd animals such as deer you need to be more careful.
