  1. Like I said not for everyone but out of all the air rifles I have owned it is by bar far the best.
  2. I have a mk3 and have had it for about three years and charged it one, never had an issue and the fact it is electric has never worried me and rain has not hurt it one bit I have been out in a fair bit. It has some bonuses too, if you release the safety and do not fire after set time it will reset and you have to cycle the switch again to arm it, it also controls the air flow and has ridiculous consistency shot after shot. I like them, some might not, one major bonus is it beeps when it is out of air required to hit the full power mark.
  3. Love the chat, good to see people get all worked up now and again, one question, how do you know a game cart works better? I am not joking about, I for one could not tell the difference between a 6.5 game or a 6.5 clay cartridge, is there someone out there who has actually tested this? If so how? I was reading a book from coates and rutter and they both rave on about #7 shot for pigeon and pheasant. What has changed? are number 7 shot smaller now then a few years back or are we just not as good a shot or is our field craft worse so we have to get the birds further out or were they just wrong? I have only been using a shotgun for the last 18 months seriously and before this I was using a .410 when I was a child and then only did roost shooting with my dad and as I was only 8 the only thing I knew was the carts were red. Out Friday with the new carts so will actually try #6 clear pigeon 30g, #6 high bird 28g & 30g loads and also these new #6.5 in 28g and see what feels better (just hope the birds play fair. Also get to use the new improved flapper with door bell switch, can not remember who suggested it but made it today and can not believe I never thought of it, foot operated as well.
  4. I have both .22 (36fpe) and .177 (17fpe) in fac and have not had a major issue with either, the .177 tends to spalt when it hits a solid target, like a steel piller or concrete block and the .22 is no worse that the 12fpe .22 I have. Only issue I have ever had is in the .177 if you use a light pellet the skirt will sometimes deform due the massive pressure needed to get it to the power rating stated.
  5. These are fibre wad. Will try the game one too then for a fair test, though not sure I have the skill to notice the difference when shooting.
  6. I use 7 and 7.5 for pigeon all the time and they are great for hide shooting with a lose choke out to 35/40 yrds. I do not like using the larger sizes bar for pheasant then I would use a 30g number 6 but bigger than that is just not needed for me but we are all different when it comes to what we like, I think most of the time though it is just a confidence thing, if you think you will not hit something with one type of cart you probably wont as you will think yourself into a miss. 6.5 seems a cracking little round to me. Looked at the number 6 in the bin ends but my gun just does not like them, double loads in the gamebore with the 65mm casing and the 6.5 have around 40 more pellets per round so paternation will be better with a very small reduction in hitting force lost. Will let you know how I get on though as I am always happy to join in with debates!
  7. Got these this morning, you will not have to worry about losing them in the grass as they are BRIGHT PURPLE! and for all those whole like cartridge porn then you can see through them too at all the inners and shiny things, will try and get out tonight for a few shots and will let you know how they go.
  8. Probably took that long to work out how to upload, I am silll working on it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
  9. I will give them a go and let you know what they are like in the field as sound good.
  10. CSP 70mm case 28gm fibre wad 6½ shot Anyone used these? they look good on paper but just thought I would ask and at £4.40 per box, going to put them through a Hatsan semi so if anyone has had experiance with the carts then comments welcome.
  11. 3 Today, very nice of them all to be on the same feeder so only needed one number 7 shot. 432
  12. Just collected the gun. Just as stated, very good condition, top chap, thanks Dave.
  13. Just got my .243 variation and when the firearms officer was here he suggested 60 rounds of ammo at any one time, I did not think this was an issue as I doubt I will fire a alot at one time, cert terned up and it states .243 caliber 60 off and then t also stated .243 exp Missile 600 off, I am right in thinking this is 600 rounds of expanding ammo? I know this is a daft question but when you see that sort of quantity I could not but help question it as this is the only type of round I will be using on fox and deer.
  14. I thought that would be the case too but it just states on condition 6 that the smooth bore gun shall be used for shooting vermin on land of which th holder has lawful authority to shoot. The .243 has a few more conditions though,,,
  15. Got the FAC ticket and got the gun, lets see what happens next week when I go out to try it. Got it down on the ticket for pest control and that is the only clause so very happy with that.
  16. Do not stop doc! They are great, how many members? must be millions, I think we should have a vote for doc's photos page as I am a deffinate yes! Oh and I have shot at loads of pigeons recently but mostly missed. This is a club forum for pople who general get on and generally like the same sort of stuff have a good chat and a bit of banter, long may it continue. If this was just 100% dedicated to where pigeons were then I think even I might get a little bored in the end,,,
  17. Just been out to the stables and noticed that the swallows are back doing up the nests. Summer really is here now! Will try and set up a camera this year to get some photos of these and the robins nest that is at the other end if I can.
  18. Not sure about black carts though, what happens when you drop one when shooting pigeons at night, I meant,,,,, some people just do not think things through!
