  1. My FLO popped round to check mine the other day after putting in for the .243, he was virtually hanging off the thing with a foot on the wall testing the wall bolts, I knew it was strong but the thought of the FLO being crushed by my cabinet falling on him might not have helped my application. No bolts on the floor so down to you, I would say use your judgement as sometime when a newer built house has the strange light weight breeze blocks (grey and very soft) i might be tempted to bolt to the floor as well.
  2. Newbury, well 5 miles outside of newbury to be exact.
  3. Still for sale, need space in the cabinet now so dropped to £100 collection in person only.
  4. This was discussed the other day but basically a pointed pellet is far hard to manufacture with the point dead centre, any slight deviation from this will cause the pellet to oscillate while spinning and the further it travels the further off centre it will be so as a rule of thumb they are not generally as accurate. Saying that there are some terrible domed pellets out there too so best bet is to try loads, use what is best for your gun and go with that. Remember that even the same brand of pellets change from batch to batch so keep an eye on the zero! As regards to killing faster, a head shot is a head shot and as long as the range is not too far so that the pellet has sufficient force to kill then it makes little difference as to the kill time, only issue you might find is a pointed pellet might over penetrate without transferring the energy from the pellet to the target leading to a slower kill time.
  5. That is a brilliant peice of work, seriously impressed. Seriously want one now too. Well done on the workmanship, really well finished.
  6. I would give it to the first person who could stop my dog eating my shoes and hiding the evidence in the veggie patch!
  7. Agreed, exacts, Crossman and Bisley mags for my 36ftb .22 A shot at 4-5flb in the head will kill most things stone dead but a pellet that goes straight through the chest will wound and is in my view cruel as the animal will live for a long time after being shot. If you shoot something that is alive then give it the decency it deserves and kill it clean. It is the same with hollow points at the other end of the scale, great for rats at close range but the feathers of a bird will absorb a massive amount of energy and will more than likely leave a wound not clean kill. Try all types of pellet but think about what you want it to do before you use one for real, if in doubt see what the professional pest controllers use, these boys know there stuff.
  8. I really liked my BSA ultra, slightly harder to prime it though as it is not bolt actioned and you have to push a slider on the front so might want to check it out first to make sure she is ok with it.
  9. Does that mean my belief that all hunt saboteurs should be buried up to the neck, cover in honey and left for the ants should be protected by law?
  10. Popped in after work to the above today for the first time, nice set up. Had to use their carts but not expensive and managed a good hit rate (92%) which was very good for me. Good little pay per shot system too. Though it was so easy I managed to go through 100 shots in an hour,,,
  11. What is his plans for it? if it is going to be drilled then all is not lost,,,,,,,,,,,,
  12. S420 too long, try my FAC S410, you have to zero the scope at 40 yards before the pellet leaves the barrel!
  13. To be honest what are you using it for? Rabbits and pigeon I prefer the .177 for accuracy in a 12ftlb (personal choice) Rats .22 as the smaller caliber goes through and does not have the shock needed for an easy clean kill and rats are tricky little **** that rarley sit still and the larger pellet gives you more room to play. But, brilliant little model, change the silencer though, the stubby one is not good and I swapped it for a propper unit.
  14. Find the field, find the tree find the roost, takes days to locate but when you do you are in. Reconnaissance is the word of the day, leave the gun at home, do the hard work then when you are ready get the bag.
  15. Coach all the way, when I shoot I shoot at what I want to hit and everything else just pales away, the coach will stand and watch and then like they said to me,,, You lifted your head off the stock,,,, Leant back then,,,, Watch your feet,,,, Lean into it and relax,,, Then as if by magic clays were broken. £45, 50 clays, one hour, great fun and I hit things far more now, (1 in three pigeons average and 1 in 2 for pheasants) I now do clays every three months or so with a mate and the spot for me and let me know where I miss.
  16. Sit, retrieving and house trained, nice, my wife is not that good at 36. Nice dog, mine hit 1 year last week and is as mad as ever, bloody good at everything bar sitting still, apparently that comes at about 2 1/2 years.
  17. .177 is the greatest 12 ftlb PCP air rifle ever made. It is so accurate I feel like I am cheating. Remember to try all pellets, I found my ultra very fussy and JSP were the only ones she liked.
  18. Well I decided to give it a go so application off, asked for the FAC shot and also a .243 so with luck I will get one! All I need now is the wife to wake up and say 'Hey, why don't you go an get yourself a nice new gun, treat yourself, you deserve it,,,,'
  19. Poles and nets for me everytime unless there is for once bales are left in the field for more than 5 mins. I have had some really good uses with the one described by John Batley as shown in his book nd no I am not on commision,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Popup hides sound great but I just do not get on with them as the restrict movement far too much.
  20. I had a bolt action .410 when I was small and loved it, made me aim well due to the smaller load but to be honest I was more interested in sneaking up on birds in the woods the the size of the shot, question though, why would you grow out of a 20bore? I used one at the weekend and at 6'2" and 15 stone I love the smaller caliber gun to the point where I am looking to get one.
  21. Seen a few boys out with one of these recently while doing organised pigeon days, one had a 5 shot the other a 7 shot. Is there a massive following for these or is it just a really fast way to use up you box of carts? I am quite happy with the old Lanber at the moment but was curious so thought I would ask.
  22. Well used but in good condition, very light so easy to walk around with, couple of small marks in barrels but nothing bad. 28" Fixed Choke at 1/4 & 1/2 with auto saftly and single selective trigger. Want £175 for her.
