you will lose 50ft per second in bullet speed for every inch you cut off the barrel ( or so i've been told) I used to shoot a HW60J 17hmr with a 14" barrel and had no problem taking bunnies at 200yrds and beyond.

Best place to buy your spares is Rimfire magic - south yourkshire shooting supplies - Ask for Dave and he'll sort you out.

Another good place is a Kale crop or similar - the green crop stands out well againt the white snow, many years ago we used to have 2 Kale cover crops on different sides of my fathers old shoot and when it snowed, we would set up hides by both and you could shoot pigeons going back and forth all day

Mark - you have a couple of choices on decent sound mods Overbarrel type - Atec or PES End of barrel - Jet Z I have just bought a Jet Z CQB for my .223 and it is the dogs dangley bits - the sound (or lack of it) is quite amazing. Some will say a predetor 8, but they do not reduce the sound like any of the above and were made to compete with the T8 in the £200 range.

Response from the BBC - Thank you for your email refering to the Barnardo's advert features on the BBC News website. The video forms part of a wider piece about the Barnardo's advertising campaign. It's produced by the charity and has been included in the story for the purposes of illustration. According to the charity, it's designed to make the point that some people think children and young people are "vermin" who need to hunted down. I can't speak for the charity, so I don't know exactly why they chose to use people with guns as opposed to other weapons. Again, because I don't speak for the charity, I can't say whether their intention was to portray gun-owners in a bad light (although I'd be surprised if that was what it meant to do). From our perspective, we had no intention of making gun-owners look like "villains" as you say. As previously stated, the video is posted on the news website to illustrate the story of the Barnardo's campaign, and for no other reason. Even at the bottom of the page would have been better, but to put it as the first thing you see is just mad - glad i'm not a member or i too would be a bit angry about it.

I have a pair of Leather lined Le Chameau and think they are supurb, i have had them for the last 2 seasons and they are very warm and dry out on the shoot - they have been used to stand as a gun and also used for beating.
