  1. So its all a coincidence and nothing to do with the earthquake I do not think so some how. why on earth would you put a thing like that on top of a geological fault line that is good planing.
  2. Just a thought but am I the only person that thinks that it was not a good idea for the Japan to be building all of these Nuclear power stations in a country that is prone to have lots of earthquakes you could argue that they have not had a problem for the past 40 years but that could be just down to good luck. Nuclear power I think is a good thing but keep it to parts of the world that are relatively quake free Ie UK France etc that way it would leave the oil to be used by places like Japan. This situation in Japan is looking bad with the building blowing up I just hope that they get it under control before it spurts out to much radiation etc.
  3. It is not correct to say that they have no warning ok Japan's coast being so close to be quake did not get much warning if any but lots of other places will get warning they said that it will be late afternoon before it gets to some places and it would not be to deep it just puzzles me that you seem to see lots of undamaged boats just floating about out of control with nobody driving them when it seems to me that it would not take much to save them.
  4. I was looking at the new tsunami in Japan and a thought accrued to me as they said that it was for the most part only 1m deep and you could see quite big fishing boats tumbling along in the water I must admit that I no nothing about boats but it seemed to me that if the crew had got on them they could have saved them surely they would have come across worst weather than that out at see as I said I no nothing so its just my thoughts.
  5. The thing that always annoys me when we hear reports of people being shot the media usually just say that someone was shot in this case they did say that it was a shotgun wound but mostly they just give half of the story. a gun shot could be anything from a AK47 to an airsoft gun and although it would not be much fun to be shot with an airsoft gun you would have to be very unlucky to sustain a life threatening injury were as the same would not apply with a 9mm plus calibre or shotgun. As has been said this lad was shot but was it a knee capping with two close up shots or one shot from some distance with shot going in to both of his legs this is the trouble they put the fear of god in to people and only later do you if at all find out the real facts.
  6. This is a bit of a dilemma it could be no end of things I had to wipe the hard drive on my computer and not being that good with computers I could not see my old emails and I was with a different broadband provider that did not help. the pore chap may have died or be in hospital with any number of problems or he may have other more important things on his mind I would say try your best to contact him how would you feel if you sold it and he then contacted you to say that he had been caring for dyeing relative.
  7. About four years ago I got a lovely silver Pocket watch made in 1910 only paid £40 for it on the bay and it worked with no problems keeping perfect time as long as I remembered to wind it up every day then one day. Then after about eighteen months the main spring snapped so I took it to a local quality jewellers and they sent it off to the chap that did there repairs he quoted me £250 to make a new main spring. I ended up buying a cheep wrist watch for £10 it dose the job but I do miss my old silver one I would love to get it repaired but cannot justify spending that much on it.
  8. You have got to find there nest I found that loads of the white powder Ant killer would keep them at bay but you have to find the nest and get rid of it to stop them from breading. I had them in my bedroom I could not sleep knowing that they were there I got quite neurotic about them what a relief when we found there nest and blocked in all the holes so that they could not get in the house again.
  9. I have stopped smoking loads of times sometimes for weeks and sometimes for years I did it properly about five years ago I do wish that I could have a fag now and then just for the hell of it but I just do not enjoy them any more.
  10. I should have said that when I broke my ankle I did order an Apple notebook and it was sent to me from Ireland the problem was I had never used one before and the instruction book with it was in French. As I never did French at school it was not much use to me I did contact Apple and they said that they would send me a new manual but as it had not arrived so after another two weeks I asked them to refund my money and sent it back. I then and got a Toshiba at half the price the funny part was that after I posted it off two new English manuals came in the post. It was a shame really as people do seem to think the operating system on them is better than Microsoft is.
  11. I do not believe that there is any shortage of oil its all down to the Banks the commodity dealers are buying futures Oil Wheat Rice etc etc so that they can make a killing selling it to the poor people at inflated prices if some of them freeze to death or starve they do not give a fig as long as they get big bonuses.
  12. If you get a chance see what Mervyn King said in his speech all that the banks are doing is looking after themselves big bonuses etc nothing has changed and he warns that if nothing is done to control them we will be back where we started and he is going to be in charge so I hope that he knows what he is doing.
  13. I always say that you are more lightly to be bitten by a little terrier than a big dog my logic is simple little dogs if they are going to be of any use need to have some aggression in them for hunting purposes ie killing rats etc and as they are much smaller than we are can be controlled. If you had a big dog with the same amount of aggression it would be a nightmare would you tackle a Lion no way but a house cat you may get lots of nasty scratches but you would kill it before it killed you but a Lion is going to win every time.
  14. I see on the news that Mervyn King is saying that our Banks are at it again I sow this on Youtube the other day ok its about the US but ours is probably much the same its worth looking at both funny and worrying.
  15. On a lighter not I well remember when me and my sister was little our dad took us to see a friend of his we all trooped in the gate and down there front path only to run out as fast as our little legs would take us followed by a great big goose we did not expect that it always makes me laugh when I think about it.
  16. I can still remember the time when things were simple BT did the phone SWEB did the electric then gas etc etc now its all broken down in to separate parts mostly all that they do is send bills but god it doesn't half make life hard to get something done.
  17. I was going to get an iMac but what put me off was I was ok paying twice the price of any other make of computer me thinking well it is an American thing made in America so it would be more expensive then I found out that it was made in China just like all of the others a nice peace of kit but over priced.
  18. I remember some years ago some people who lived a couple of doors up from us I should add that I lived in a market town in Wiltshire and the houses were semi detached with long gardens anyway they got some chickens and had to get rid of them because people were worried about them attracting rats the guy was a PC and owned the house that is all I now seems daft my Gran lived in Bath and had Chickens in a much smaller garden with no problems.
  19. Re filters when I had problems 4 years ago the first thing that the BT chap did was to replace my old connection box from the standard box to one with one socket for the phone and another for the computer he said about the filters being a problem in the older ones but what he did seemed to work well for a time then the old problems began to return I am now shore that the way to sort my problem out is for that old box on the outside to be replaced with a new one that has not got holes in it to let the bugs get in. I should add that with the two socket type of box you do not need external filters.
  20. I was going to go with sky when they said if you have there TV you can have free Broadband but when I said that I live in Wiltshire they said that they could not do it Bt was ripping me off £120 a for three months and I hardy use my land line so I went with talktalk £20 per month all in If my line gets sorted then I am happy with them as long as nothing goes wrong It gets up my nose when you have to speak to someone in India to arrange for a man to come a less than a mile down the road to do a repair Open reach are just down the road from me great init.
  21. I have been having problems with my broadband and crackling on the phone line for quite some time I was talking to a friend on tuesday and he said that he had been trying to phone me but the phone would ring once then cut off from my end the thing seem's to be working ok. On tuesday night my broadband would not work it was late so I did not bother about it in the morning I switched off the rooter and let it reset that usually works but still got nothing. So I tried to phone talktalk but the phone would not work all that I got was some crackling on the line. So I get my Mobile and phone BT as they maintain the network only to be told that I must phone talktalk I'm not doing that on my mobile as its a pay as you go. So go next door and after twenty minutes of farting about they say that they will check my line and send me a text this arrives after waiting about an hour telling me that they cannot find the fault but will do more tests. The next morning its still not working I get a text telling me to phone a given number did that only to be told that I have to phone talktalk so it back next door and phone talktalk got through quicker this time the woman said go home and phone us on your mobile and we can go through some tests with you it took us ten minutes to get through to her that by this time my phone line was dead not even making crackling nose so eventually she agreed to make an appointment for an chap to come and check it out. Now cums the good part ( HE CAN COME NEXT WEDNESDAY MORNING ) there was nothing that I could do as she was adamant that this was the quickest that they could do it. When I got home I thought the box where the wire comes in to my place on the inside was replaced by BT about four years ago so that should be ok the only other thing that I could think of was the box on the outside it is quite low down do I unscrewed the top and looked in it looked a mess cobwebs etc but I wriggled the wires about and went in side and checked the phone it was crackling again and I could hear a faint tone I cannot use the phone but at least my broadband if working if not properly enough to get by until BT get here in a weeks time.
  22. I think that you will find that you will stand much more chance of continuing to be able to shoot any sort of gun with the Conservative's in charge it's Labour who are all for banning everything. I sow the debate that they had a while ago there was about 50 Conservative MP's almost all pro shooting and 3 Labour MP's 1 was pro 2 was against they should be debating it properly soon but I think that we will be ok until Labour gets in again.
  23. As people have said the idea of licensing air guns would seem to be a good thing from the point of having some control over the people who are allowed to have then. I would have no problem with that but the thing that worries me is I just do not trust politicians to have that information if the political'y correct namby pamby's complain to the politicians I would not trust them not to ban them and if they were all licensed they would now exactly who had one and then you would have a bang on on your front door and a police man standing there asking you to hand over all of your air guns as they have done before with other guns.
  24. If you have got a digi box have a look at Al-Jazeera English I have been most imprest with it not half as bias as you would think that it would be I also like RT Russia Today I love Max Kizzer talking about the banks he tells it like it is they are all a load of crooks.
  25. do not worry about it to much as said try to avoid fatty food and get some tablets from your doctor Ie Statins etc I think a lot of it is genetic it affects some people and not others.
