  1. Volvos, BMWs - I'm stuck with a Honda where they don't give 'em good numbers
  2. That 325 is lovely with crisp engraving and really nicely figured wood - I cast covetous eyes over it while I was still shooting a B525 and wishing for something more lovely to look at...
  3. Further details please - I'm near Norwich
  4. It's a pretty straightforward process - the action is held on by a long bolt that runs from behind the recoil pad. For what your gunsmith should charge I'd ask them to take the metalwork off the wood (fore end release mechanism too) - most will do it as a favour if you're a regular customer and they'll be able to make sure nothing gets damaged in the process. Refinishing a stock is one of the most rewarding things you'll ever do, DIY wise, as it's not complicated but yields great results - normally it makes your gun a lot more desirable when (or if) you decide to move it on too... Good luck and HAVE PATIENCE
  5. I can recommend Alkanet too. I've used the Trade Secret range on my last 4 guns and always been pleased...the one thing you can't shortcut on is the time it'll take to get a deep lustre. Just put something good on the stereo and settle in for a long evening (or three)
  6. Bearing in mind previous comments regarding the reinvention of the wheel please ignore me if you've noticed this already! 'hitclays' has an interesting post in the Clay Pigeon Shooting forum regarding cartridge pricing and you might like to drop him a line as he's, apparently, going to be able to offer some more than fair prices. I shoot with him regularly and haven't yet had to pay over £150 per 1000 for 28g, plastic wad, 7.5 shot Claybusters but he also has access to other manufacturers. Hope that this helps...
  7. Cheers - I'll pass this link on to a mate who I think will take your hand off
  8. Can you please advise what size it is? Thanks
  9. Spot on advice - I shoot everything with 1/4 and 1/2 - I have a full set of chokes but 3 of them are still unused!
  10. You don't want another gun named after a vicar's hat Peregrinus - not yet anyway
  11. Well trousered my friend! Much appeciated
  12. Three tyres off my Honda CR-V but I understand it's quite a usual size and they should also work for Toyotas and Nissans plus, obviously, anything else with the same fitment...I've just fitted new alloys with low profiles so these are going begging. 3x KUMHO M&S 205 65 16 with plenty of meat on them. £60 collected for all three - not unfair I think you'll agree but, for some strange reason, my wife wants them out of the car port Norwich, Norfolk
  13. What network is it locked to please? I'm on '3' so need to know if I could use it. If it'll work with the samll repair that you say it needs I'll have it please Cheers
  14. I'll get you at playtime this Sunday you old buzzard!
  15. Mr and Mrs Countryside Lass will more than make up for my absence - I'm best used as ballast these days anyway Totally gutted at missing out on the company of some of the sport's finest BUT there's still The Ploughshare in the evening if nothing too disastrous occurs during the day. Have fun you lucky, lucky people
  16. Just got my March roster and I can't make the 10th I've tried to swap the day but nobody wants to play ball (or let me shoot clays...same difference). 'Sorry' and 'Gutted' don't begin to cover it. I shall be missing one of the best days of the year Have fun guys, I'm not TOO jealous
  17. You can read books, go on the net, trawl through gun shops, dribble over magazine racks (the GOOD kind) and much more besides but as Whitebridges says you'll never get better experience than practicing. Being prepared to miss in order to learn how to hitt is the order of the day and you'll enjoy feeling that it's all coming together gradually. Even Formula One drivers still stall their cars and you can see how much practice they do! Nowadays (and I'm STILL no good) I can tell nine times out of ten at the point of firing whether it's going to be bits or a frisbee flight into the diatance Even when you can't get shooting stand in your home (curtains dawn if you're easily embarrassed) and dry mount. Once you know your gun you've taken a big step. Good luck and please keep us posted how you're getting on
  18. I'm not sure how much more you need to improve your photography - I've just got out my Collins Birds Guide and your pictures are better than the ones in my copy. Good pictures! It's nice to be able to enjoy wildfowl on the pond as well as on the plate Obviously just legal quarry species before someone jumps on me!
  19. Won't you be hammering fence posts in with it that day Alan?
  20. Aw C'mon! It's the pub thing really... The shooting is just to work up a thirst for that there Pigeon Watch Ale
  21. hitclays has a Browning 425 which I've borrowed myself in the past - if you ask him nicely and proffer the local currency of an imperial pint of Nigerian Lager at The Ploughshare afterwards he'll probably be happy to oblige. It's 14.5 / 14.75" stock I'd guess and 28" barrels - I'm 6'2" and it fitted me
  22. You NEED an excuse to go to the pub? Oh deary me . Just a word re the Synergy - they're not popular secondhand as they have had some reliability issues and you can probably pick one up heavily discounted if you really fall in love with the design but you'll have more difficulty moving it on than you will a GTS. There's an ex demo at Lings at Gt Massingham that they can't move for love nor money so that might be worth a look . I'm sure most people on here will agree that if you stick with mainstream guns (BWM or Beretta) you'll find it much easier to change when or if you decide you want to
  23. There's one regular shooter at Beeston who uses a black one mate - he runs The Brickmakers pub in Norwich but I'm not sure if he'll be with us on the 10th as I don't know what his PW handle is...
