  1. You're very welcome Mick - the PW forum is a great source of information and you'll enjoy putting faces to names as you get back into a great sport. Try to get to the flush in July - it's an awesome day out and no mistake
  2. I'm trying to swing the day off so please put me down buddy...
  3. Yes, Yes, totally, absolutely and I agree. Probably in that order. All in all a much better worded recommendation than mine The consensus of opinion seems to just about universally be 'See You There'!
  4. Hi Terry - try SportsmanGunCentre - they have silly offers on small or very large sizes and I've always found them helpful (Uttings aren't bad eiither). Try Bonart too: http://www.distinctlybritish.co.uk/index.php?p=product&products_id=3401&cid=7 Buying really cheap (ie Champion etc) rarely makes sense as they look like dish rags after all the bulking has washed out the first time in the laundry but Hoggs of Fife seem to last quite well... Hope things are good with you and your mate is getting on well with his Lanber - hope to see you at the July PW Flush
  5. Yup, what he said Peregrinus and I shoot regularly together at Beeston and, apart from a strange taste in guns named after priest's hats, he's a fine judge
  6. I've shot (I'm pretty sure) just about every ground in Norfolk and I keep going back to Beeston every fortnight I started going there a couple of years ago after a 20 year lay-off from clays and from the first time I was welcome which meant a bit as several other locations (no names, no pack drill) were a bit 'cliquey' for my taste. Hitclays runs the exceptional PW flushes and, as other members have posted, they are as much fun as you can have with your clothes on For an opportunity to meet new faces, make new mates and have a generally good day's shooting I don't think there's anything to beat it. The Churchills shoot on the 5 occasions I've been there has involved hold ups every time due to traps running out of clays or batteries going down and I like to keep in the swing and at Beeston with 10 stands to go at you rarely get bored. No detriment to Churchills - it could've been just bad luck that they were having equipment troubles when I went so I'm not running them down - just speaking as I find If you make it along to one of Hitclays' shoots just ask where the PW bods are and Mel (Alan's long-suffering wife) will point you in the right direction but rest assured you'll get a warm welcome and you're welcome to shoot a round or two with me mate Also don't forget that Alan offers advice and help on the day for free and you can go back to any stand and blast away at the end of the day to iron out any glitches in your shooting style. Clay shooting is meant to be fun and the fact that 100+ people turn out to stand in a field in Norfolk twice a month (and travel extraordinary distances for the PW flushes - big up the Essex, Kent, Herts and Fenboy Massives!) says a lot
  7. I'm really quite keen on this as a fowling piece. I've also read what nice things other PW members have had to say about you, your service and pricing, and that all stands to your credit. I have a proposal for you (if you don't mind). If I send you a deposit of £100 as earnest of good intent will you please hold the gun for me? Rather than try to negotiate on price (which I don't think is necesssary as it's very fair already) would you cover the RFD cost to my dealer in Norfolk as part of our deal? I'm selling my Rizzini sideplate but need to get a little more than you kindly offered so a couple or three week's leeway would be gratefully used but at least if you have a cash deposit from me you'll know that I'm serious. If this seems sensible to you would you please be kind enough to PM me? Many thanks, Charles
  8. Just wondering who's coming to the YFC shoot this year? Hitclays put on a blinder last year and, with all the flush practice he's kindly laid on, I reckon it should be a couple of PW members who pocket the prize money. It was me and Mr Countryside Lass last year (equal with the Papworths) but I suspect we'll have our work cut out this time. There are a couple of decent alehouses in the vicinity: Hare Arms at Stow Bardolph (2 miles) and The Folgate Inn (800 yards) so a mardle over a foaming pint might be an idea for afterwards? Be good to catch up
  9. I'd value the engine at £200 if sold separately - I adjusted the price down as a package. It's a very reliable unit and open to any inspection...
  10. It's genuinely a cracking little set-up . If you want more details or you fancy having a play with it before deciding just PM me old buddy - I know you're a straight talking chap
  11. Plastimo PI270 RIB with 5hp geared outboard and separate tank. Description of Plastimo Inflatable Tender Fun Series Pi270VB 3.5 Man - Grey: http://marinestore.co.uk/PL55742.html This is proper small boat that is easy to handle yet will plane easily and is remarkably stable thanks to the larger diameter tubes. Used twice on the Broads last year and absolutely as new condition! The inflatable floor makes it just as stable as a RIB but means it'll go in the boot or on the roof with ease. Offered with a Yamaha 5hp outboard (90s vintage I believe) which is wholly reliable and runs like a watch, serviced last year and good for the Summer. This really is a complete package - all you need to do is find somewhere wet to put it - everything is included, pump, oars, outboard, fuel line and tank, launch clamping trolley, the lot. A seriously comprehensive package which I'd like £600 for, complete. Located near Norwich in Norfolk. Any questions please pm me. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- V-type inflatable hull tender, for increased lightweight and stability when taking fast rides under power, loaded or not. For a comfortable ride, 2 flaps extend the inflatable floor. They ease the lift off and keep the boat well balanced throughout the speed band. 12. Looking forward to this event thoroughly - it was great last year and really good to see some splendid targets and friendly sportmanship from all taking part. Cracking Charity too
  13. Good man Odd Job! Hope they did you proud Do let us know the outcome - there's quite a few of us up here in sunny Norfolk rooting for them
  14. So that's what they mean when they say 'Round Up The Usual Suspects'! A right motley crew but nice to see so many smiles Oh yes, nearly forgot, I was at work...Ho Hum!
  15. As Countryside Lass says - I believe it's the early days of April (first Sunday?) and, if last year is anything to go by, it'll be a top day. Last year there was a sporting layout and flush too. Hope to see you there
  16. I have a Rizzini sideplate Full &3/4 with oiled stock, very pretty, and if you'd see you way to valuing it at 1/2 your asking price I'd be happy to settle the other 1/2 with cash. Your thoughts please? Charles
  17. Would you sell the pocket folder separately and, if you would, how much for please? Payment via PP? Cheers, Chaz
  18. SO grovelling gutted to have missed it but, as I knew it would be, an absolute triumph reading what you guys have had to say... The only thing that keeps me from the next one is a current death certificate. I knew Alan (hitclays) would put on a fantastic layout and I'm only sorry I wasn't there to be the only chuffer who missed something
  19. Have a try on the web at Gunseller but your budget is very tight - these guns have taken off now that shooters know that they're Belgian made BWM pieces. I bought a Select Energy adjustable last year at £1245 and that undercut even Avalon at the time because my dealer wanted to up his turnover. If you've a Browning or Miroku to trade your RFD may be able to get a trade-in allowance for you... Good Luck - they are the best value guns currently on the market and shoot clean and straight!
  20. Don't really know what is likely to appeal to you but I've a Bretton Gaucher fully modded (barrel silenced) .410 bolt action but I'd be after £175 or looking for an interesting swap (over £300 new and mine's seen less than 100 carts through it). Quieter than a 12ftlb springer on subsonic loads. All in black. May not interest you but thought I'd mention it... I'm just south of Norwich but my better half lives at Martham
  21. Details on Oakley coat plesae...chest etc. If it fits I'll have it Cheers, Chazzmeister
  22. Have a look at Sportsman Gun Centre on the web. I thinks they have a clearance on at the moment, There are a lot of cheap tweeds out there but you'll wish you'd spent a bit more or got a good S/H one before long if you take the less expensive route. I've got a Beaver with membrane and it's 10 years old and as good as new (but smells like a wet goat in the gun room) - it has justified the extra outlay many times over and I still bless it every rainy shoot day. As Ranulph Ffiennes says 'There's no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing'
  23. Damn! Rumbled again! Exactly WHAT is so wrong shooting clays in pink slingbacks and a matching Alice Band anyway? I couldn't have good looks AND style so I chose to have neither
  24. Well he'll know - he's good like that Absolutely gutted at not being able to make it to the flushes - I'd throw my toys around at work but I think my boss would be glad of an excuse to reduce the wages bill
  25. Fenboy: Check the Wanted section matey - 'Lloyd008' is looking for an Ulrikakakakaka...
